I want it to be readable (it's not) but I do not see why changing those two pages will require an overhaul of pages that have perfectly fine sizes. That said, I think Jean and Leanna need to have an outside expert do this, not Samantha or me. I think it's beyond the ken of anyone inside the company.

You can also use at least in W10 the Magnifier app that is built in.

SVC: I don't think it'll be that bad. I am not an expert, and I haven't touched HTML code in ten years, but I "think" I found the setting. It appears that your pages use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) ... something I never head of before now ... to set all the fonts and whatnot for everything. If I'm reading this right, there is a master CSS file that controls the rest of the pages. In that file, it appears that the default font-size is set to 10px. It may be as simple as changing that value, which will then reflect in all the pages that point to the master CSS file.
That said, of course, please do have a real expert take a look at it.

And doing that could blowup layouts on any number of pages, of which there are a zillion within the website.
As you note, you didn't even know what CSS was until just now. Please don't go suggesting changes to it, when you don't even know everything it could effect. There can be pages dependent on multiple CSS, linked all over the place.
I went to the noted page. It's a gigantic list. Having more on-screen, per-page, is a good thing and requires less scrolling.
Honestly, Ctrl+ works fine to enlarge the font size on it for me, and I do that on many webpages all the time.

Well, yeah, duh, that's why I said, "have a real expert look at it". But I wanted him to be armed with some knowledge beforehand; otherwise, some unscrupulous twit might try to tell him, "I need to change 100 lines of code on 50 different pages." This way, he knows it might be "change one line of code, then check 50 web pages to see if any blew up."

Honestly, do you want the company to spend a bunch of money and staff time resizing the font size (and I checked several pages and the font size is the same on all of them) and then checking to see what blew up or can you just use the [ctrl]+ command?
Do remember that as more and more people use mobile devices, being able to scroll down a lot of information and then blow up the section they want becomes a Good Thing.

Hi Samantha,
There are no core products listed in the Federation & Empire category (https://www.starfleetstore.com/core-sets-c-22_87/)
By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Thursday, July 02, 2020 - 07:04 pm: Edit |
Ken, that is a Leanna question and should be sent by email to her.
By Ken Kazinski (Kjkazinski) on Friday, July 03, 2020 - 01:45 pm: Edit |
Jean - actually I think there are broken links because you the link to take you to purchase F&E also has an error.
By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Friday, July 03, 2020 - 02:02 pm: Edit |
Ken, where is that link?
I *think* Leanna deactivated the F&E set because we are out of one of the important countersheets. You would need to email her to verify.
By Ken Kazinski (Kjkazinski) on Friday, July 03, 2020 - 02:39 pm: Edit |
The link is from http://www.starfleetgames.com/federationandempire.shtml
It is the embedded link in "Federation & Empire - Newly revised for 2010, the boxed set contains over 2100 playing pieces, a huge multi-color map, the completely updated rulebook for 2010, and more."
When you click on the F&E link you get a product not found error.

Yes, we are out of counters, the company that made them is out of business, and other companies we are interviewing were shut down with COVID and have a serious backlog of quotes to work up. We're expecting news soon.

Out of F&E counters!
Someone should have notified me.
I'm going to have to leave work and go check on Mike Curtis to make sure he's OK.
Maybe I'll take him one of my 'as of yet' un-punched ISC War counter sheets to help with the withdrawals!!!
By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Monday, July 06, 2020 - 12:51 pm: Edit |
I still have a bunch of the old I & J counters left to cut...
Also, I can start rounding the corners on my 70k set if I get really bored or I need a cardboard fix.

I just noticed that the Master Index page (and other pages on this site) are suddenly much easier to read. It appears that the default font size was increased from 10 to 14. Thank you, to whomever did that. I hope that change didn't screw anything up.

Garth, nothing changed. Perhaps you hit a setting on your computer that increased the font size?
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Thursday, January 14, 2021 - 11:55 pm: Edit |
LOL Don't worry Jean, Garth put his glasses on.
By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Friday, January 15, 2021 - 12:50 am: Edit |
No, it's not on my end. It was never on my end. I checked the CSS file. The default setting has been changed. For the better, in my opinion.

I'm 99.9% sure I already asked this somewhere but not 100% so here goes:
Is any of the SFB artwork for sale? Even a high res version I can send to a printer would be great.
Currently I've got a cut up box framed on my wall so I've got the old basic set displayed alongside my other favorite game covers. I'd love to have it be something with higher fidelity and fewer scrapes and scratches.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, January 15, 2021 - 02:30 pm: Edit |
I don't remember being asked. It's an interesting question which needs more thought.
By Ginger McMurray (Gingermcmurray) on Friday, January 15, 2021 - 09:18 pm: Edit |
I'd be happy to slip you $5 under the table for a png. ;)
P. S.
That's a joke. I'd pay more. :D

Send me an email and I'll pass the idea around the meeting next Tuesday.

I know it's old but the Hailing Frequencies links for June and July 2008 result in a 404 error.

The page http://www.federationcommander.com/links.shtml has a link to www.primedirectiveonline.com . This should be removed since it now points to an escort service.
Also www.myspace.com/federationcommander is a dead link on the same page.
