It is with reluctance that we have had to raise the price of the F&E large-scale map and for its lamination.

We got the bills for the printed map and for the lamination of one of them. It should be no surprise in these times, but the price went up on us drastically, to the point where we couldn't just absorb it. So that we could provide it at all, we had to raise the price.

In good news, the individual ship cards from Federation Commander's Booster #37 and Booster #38 are now available on the shopping cart!

The Post Office is raising prices on everyone during the "holiday season" which starts on October 3. That means that our shipping has to go up to $14.50 (from $13.75). We will always try to find the cheapest way to ship it to you and refund the difference.

ADB Releases Miniatures for October 2021

On October 1, 2021, ADB released 21 new items to its shop on Shapeways, which has over 2,775 items available in total. This month we focused on the Federation, Carnivons, and the Baduvai (located in the Lesser Magellanic Cloud). Please note that all miniatures are available in both 3788 and 3125 scales, except when noted.

The Federation gets a full line of military vehicles in 285 Scale: M3 Ground Combat Vehicles, M4 Armored Personnel Vehicles, M5 Command Post Vehicles and M8 Combat Engineer Vehicles (two of each), M6 Ground Assault Vehicles, M7 Ground Weapons Vehicles, and M190 tanks.

Historically, the Carnivons were wiped out by the Kzintis and Lyrans before they got to the era of the "Modern Age." If they hadn't been, they would have continued to evolve their ships. These ships are described in Star Fleet Battles Module C6. The Carnivons gain their Dreadnought. The Carnivons also get their Core Collection in 7000 Scale to go with the Builder Collection released last month. The Core Collection of six ships contains a dreadnought, heavy cruiser, light cruiser, destroyer, and two frigates.

Described in Star Fleet Battles Module C5, the Lesser (or Small) Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is the second-nearest galactic neighbor to the Milky Way Galaxy. The Baduvai are large herbivorous quadrupeds, weighing over 2,500 pounds. They formed the Baduvai Imperium. That navy gains its Heavy Cruiser, Strike Cruiser, Light Cruiser, Destroyer, Battle Frigate, and Improved Frigate.

The newsletter is being finalized. What's holding things up is the cover for TACOPS which is being released now and needs to be in the newsletter. We should have that tomorrow and be able to ship the newsletter, including a new FC ship and the first glance at Traveller-PD.

Is the digital release waiting for the physical release?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, October 14, 2021 - 10:07 pm: Edit

We had planned them to be simultaneous but the cover was delayed and we will consider options tomorrow.

By Soeren Klein (Ogdrklein) on Friday, October 15, 2021 - 10:59 am: Edit

Hey, Steve!
I guess despite the digital release of TacOps the countersheets would only be available as a hardcopy, wouldn't they?

I already asked quite some time ago about pdf countersheets sold via wargamevault, because - as european player - the pdfs are easier to buy than the hardcopies, but I guess the counters are still out of the question, right?

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Soeren Klein

By Mike Erickson (Mike_Erickson) on Friday, October 15, 2021 - 11:58 am: Edit

Soeren,

Hypothetically, what would you like to do with PDF countersheets? Would you like to print them out on a color printer and then cut them out and glue them onto blank counters or something? Just curious.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, October 15, 2021 - 12:08 pm: Edit

For now, company policy is not to release countersheets for F&E in PDF. The counters are what makes F&E profitable. Otherwise it would be a money loser.

We have done a few special sheets (like the HDWs) as PDFs but not otherwise.

By Mike Erickson (Mike_Erickson) on Friday, October 15, 2021 - 01:00 pm: Edit

Completely understandable Steve. A game line that isn't profitable isn't sustainable over time.

By Soeren Klein (Ogdrklein) on Saturday, October 16, 2021 - 12:56 am: Edit

Thanks for the answer, Steve!
I too completely understand that decision.

Mike, I would indeed color print a countersheet and instead of glueing it to cardboard I would laminate it before cutting. Stacks would be not as stable as cardboard counters but it would have been an easier access than waiting until I have enough products to order to make an overseas order viable.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Soeren Klein

Federation & Empire: Tactical Operations Available

To Heck with Logistics! Tactics for the Win!

Tactical Operations has more rules and ships for Federation & Empire with all the crunchiness that you've come to expect. There are X-maulers for when you absolutely, positively need to destroy something. Need leaders? Now you have war cruiser leaders and war destroyer leaders! Being raided? Block the raiders with the new light gunboat tenders. Stellar fortresses will protect those vulnerable areas. There are more shipyard functions to provide efficient ways to manage your construction schedule. And there are flexible command points to aid admirals.

It wouldn’t be an F&E module without scenarios. The War that Almost Was explores a "what if" conflict between the Gorns and the Federation after a brash young captain first encountered the Gorns. Eye of the Storm explores what would have happened if everyone (and we mean everyone!) ganged up on a rich Federation. Firestorm is an alternative history scenario for five players, which assumes the Hydran Expedition got through to the Federation. You know you always wanted to invade the WYN Cluster, and Into the Whirlpool lets you do exactly that. There are also alternative starts to the General War.

You will need the Federation & Empire 2010 Rulebook and various countersheets to use this expansion.

You can download the Tactical Operations Rulebook from these sources:

Warehouse 23: https://warehouse23.com/products/ADB3216-2
DriveThru RPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/374490/
Wargame Vault: https://www.wargamevault.com/product/374490/

It is available as a complete expansion (including the rulebook, three copies of Countersheet Tango, and one copy of Countersheet Oscar) from either your local game store or direct from ADB: https://www.starfleetstore.com/expansions-c-22_88/fe-tactical-operations-p-1343.html

Good gaming to you!

ADB Releases Miniatures for November 2021

On November 22, 2021, ADB released 48 new items to its shop on Shapeways, which has over 2,800 items available in total. We featured the Federation, Klingons, Kzintis, Gorns, Jindarians, Hydrans, and the Orion Pirates this month. Please note that all miniatures are available in both 3788 and 3125 scales, except when noted.

The Federation starts with the New Command Cruiser and the Plasma Dreadnought. Each ship is available in both the Federation (gridded saucer) and Fed Classic (smooth saucer) styles. They also gain their Pre-War Collection (two destroyers, two old light cruisers, one old heavy cruiser, and one police cutter) in the 7000 Scale.

The Klingons gain their WC10 Battleship. With more aztecking, the ship is also available as the WC10K Refitted Battleship.

The fans have been asking for the Fast Naval Transport, and it is here in Omni Scale only.

The Kzintis are here in force with their Division Control Ship, Battle Control Ship, Battleship Carrier, New Gunboat/PF Tender, and War Dreadnought. They also get a new X-Ship New Heavy Cruiser.

The Gorns gain their Fast Battlecruiser in both the regular and refitted versions.

The pirates got X-Ships! The Orions now have their Salvage Cruiser-X and Strike Cruiser-X. The latter was just recently discovered in the files.

The Hydrans gain more X-Ships for their Kingdom: the Cavalier-X Carrier, along with the Mongol-X Medium Cruiser and its hellbore-armed companion, the Tartar-X Medium Cruiser.

The Jindarians get more of their metal ships, the Heavy War Destroyer, Medium Strike Cruiser, and Heavy Strike Cruiser. In Omni Scale, they gain their Comet Gunboat/PF Flotilla. They also have their Fleet Builder Collection (three war destroyers and three frigates) in the 7000 Scale.
