UPDATE:
The individual arrested on Friday claimed to be working a high profile client, and that he was at the State Farm Stadium conducting a security check as the client will be attending the service on Sunday.
Problem, he failed to check in anywhere before entering the site.
It also does not explain why he failed to update his security credentials.

Kimmel will return Tuesday night. What he will say is unknown.
NO FURTHER DISCUSSION.

UPDATE:
Joshua Runkles, the individual arrested at the State Farm Insurance stadium on Friday.
As more information comes out, more questions are being asked.
First, the credentials Mr Runkles presented to the Secret Service were deemed invalid by the law enforcement sheriffs department, identified mr. Runkles as a Arizona Sheriffs deputy. The problem is, mr. Runkles is. Former deputy from a different state than Arizona.
Second, when mr. Runkles was arrested, he was in possession of not one but two fire arms, one of which was a revolver. The second weapon was not identified, in addition to several knives.
Neither weapon was licensed in Arizonal.
Third, Mr. Runkles presented to the Secret Service Agents who arrested him, a North Carolina Concealed Weapon carry permit, but didn't or couldn't provide proof of residence in N.C.
He did identify the client for whom he said hired him to provide security services, and the Secret Service did confirm the celebrity was both invited to the services, and was expected to attend, but at the time the story was released, had not confirmed that mr. Runkles had been retained by the client.
This part of the story seems to never end.

I don't believe Arizona has any requirement that firearms be registered with the state. I'm not sure about their concealed carry laws. Different states have different requirements regarding where non-LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) can carry and if the stadium owner forbade private citizens from bringing weapons into the stadium, Mr. Runkles may have violated the law in that respect. But it's meaningless to say "Neither weapon was licensed in Arizona..."; because (I'm about 80% confident) there's no requirement for that.

I will confirm, NC Carry Permits have the permitee's NCDL number and address on it.....
If they haven't verified residence yet, someone is incompetent.....
A resident of NC, has 90 days to renew/replace license if they move (Active Duty military are exempt, required to have home of record).... Not sure how that would affect the permit....
Permits are issued through the County Sheriff you reside in (Held mine around 20 years, renewed numerous times)....

Alan Trevor:
The report that I am paraphrasing didn’t indicate what other state the weapons might have been registered in.
The line about not being registered in Arizona was in the original report.
By Alan Trevor (Thyrm) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - 12:08 am: Edit |
Jeff,
I had assumed the line about not being registered was from the original report. My question is whether the person who wrote that report really understood the relevant gun laws.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - 12:20 am: Edit |
Most journalists think they are experts on gun laws, but few actually are.
By MarkSHoyle (Bolo) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - 08:21 am: Edit |
Majority of states don't require weapons to be registered....
The purchase form filled out when weapon is bought, isn't required to be filed for an extended time... Depends on state, believe it is normally 90 days...

News broke. The second attempted Trump assassin was found guilty on all charges. He had represented himself in court.

The report did mention that the affiliates preempting Jimmy Kimmel will substitute local news coverage, by their own news depts.

....why are we still discussing Kimmel after the "NO FURTHER DISCUSSION" from Steve on the topic?
By Robert Russell Lender (Rusman) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - 11:30 pm: Edit |
I heard on the radio today that Ryan Routh tried to stab himiself in the neck with a pen after being found guilty on all charges. Sheriff's deputies restrained him and prevented his suicide attempt. While this was happening, his daughter freaked out in the court room shouting obscenities and accusations at the deputies. It was apparently quite the ordeal.

Indeed, no more discussion of Mr Kimmel.

Please don't discuss Mr. Kimmel. My leg HURTS from the Rude Goat attack, and Allie and Ally think that if they bring me a leg, it will replace mine, and I will feel better. Please don't become a part of a Frankenstein's-monster type experiment (although I think I would remain prettier than that).

Portland, per today's social media post from Pres. Trump:
"At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists. I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary."
Apparently, "...War ravaged..." refers to the roughly two dozen protestors that have maintained a vigil outside the ICE facility.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, September 27, 2025 - 06:01 pm: Edit |
That would be one of those “mostly peaceful” protests? War ravaged refers to crime waves caused by no cash bail.
By Jessica Orsini (Jessica_Orsini) on Saturday, September 27, 2025 - 07:39 pm: Edit |
Homicides in Portland are down 51% this year, and violent crime as a whole down 17%. Property crime is down some 23%. Entirely aside from that, Portland (and Oregon as a whole) doesn't have a no-cash-bail system.
By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Saturday, September 27, 2025 - 09:05 pm: Edit |
You might want to consider the fact that there are areas (including the I.C.E. Building that Antifa has been protesting at every night for the last three months.) that police are no longer responding to 911 calls.
Why worry about no cash bail system if the city government ordered police not to arrest offenders?
Given the fact that Portland has been actively defunding the police, and the increase in officers taking early retirement, it should come as no surprise that the crime rate of REPORTED crimes is down.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that actual crime is increasing, not decreasing.
By Jessica Orsini (Jessica_Orsini) on Saturday, September 27, 2025 - 09:39 pm: Edit |
Jswile: the Portland Police Bureau has a budget of $318 million, a record high. The oft-touted "defunding" in 2020 was never more than a 5% cut. They do indeed respond to calls at/near the ICE facility; what they do not do is assist ICE with crowd control.
