Harry and Meghan of Sussex are in the news again. They have announced plans to return to the UK. Rumors abound.

Harry lied on his US visa application or got special consideration and got in despite US laws keeping out drug users. The investigation continues and he could face five years in a US jail.

The UK tax laws treat someone who lived abroad for six years different from someone who was abroad for a shorter time. That six years is up.

Meghan's celebrity empire has long since collapsed and the couple are out of money, especially with word they will have to pay nine million pounds to the Daily Mail.

Supposedly, Harry told Meghan to come with him or file for divorce.

It is unclear to anyone if they will...
A. become working royals
B. continue to exploit royal titles.
C. Provide any proof their children are actually their children.
D. Apologize for lying about an embarrassing the royal family.
E. Reach any accommodation with William & Kate.
F. Get taxpayer funded security.
G. Realize that the British people hate them.
H. Realize that American people are fed up with them.

All of the above is possible.

Some of the above is most likely it seems though - D and E are the easy options.

Meghan looks like she will return to Work acting and I am sure Harry would like to be more involved with Invictus Games.

That will pay for their day to day living costs outside of security.

I am sure if they help rebuild some of the bridges they burned with the King and his Brother - I am sure the rest of the issues will be resolved.

Invictus is an interesting subject. Many countries run games for wounded veterans, but no one spends anything near as much as Harry does, and Invictus does less with the money. The bureaucratic office worker structure is much larger and much more expensive, yet Invictus offers less support to veterans. Not saying there is something hinky here, but no end of journalists have said exactly that.

Meghan's return to show business collapsed and the show considering hiring her decided not to.

William says no return to working royals. No photographs of meetings with royals. They are not allowed to exploit their titles. William still wants DNA tests on the children which Meghan cannot allow to happen.

They might eventually apologize to for lying and embarrassing the family but nobody in the UK wants them as working royals or even faux-royals. William says "private life only" and he means it.

Harry is going to pay a huge legal bill and the family won't pay it for him.

There has been an apparent earthquake in Nepal that has unleashed massive flooding (from a combination mudslides and snowmelt). Available film showed a good sized town being submerged with little to no warning. Casualties are not known at this time but expected to be heavy

I just saw a video of it, too. Massive wall of water running down a well designed channel for 99% of any possible disasters. This, though... Wow!

My hope is that the officials had enough warning and were able to evacuate people, or at least convince them to move to higher floors in the towers alongside the river.

The buildings looked like they were holding up, but the video I saw was short, so I honestly don't know.

The border stations for both China and Nepal at the first fork the water moved through are totally gone. Nothing left. There were half a dozen large structures and a huge parking garage. Nothing left.

The earthquake happened, causing an avalanche of rock and snow to fall into the upper river valley. Theory is that the rock and ice cause an unstable and temporary blockage of the river to build up water behind it. As the pressure built up the stability failed causing the entire thing to collapse and come rushing down causing massive destruction along the way.

I saw at least three bridges collapse.

It's a horrible mess, 500 dead and 1500 missing as of 12 hours ago, including over 100 Americans dead or missing.

The worst of it is how remote this place is, making it hard to get help in there and harder to rebuild.

The Harry & Meghan saga continues, but 99% of what's on line is made up @#$% by people seeking clicks or trying to embarrass whoever they don't like. A random sample.

The Montecito Mansion is up for sale, or has been sold, or is in foreclosure, or is being kept as a way to retreat if the return to the UK move collapses.

The visa case boils down to either Harry lied or Harry got some kind of waiver. If he liked, he won't go to jail (no US government would put the son of the King of England in jail, get real) but he might be banned from returning.

Meghan has given up her show biz career, or is trying to recharge it with some royal family photos.

Harry will have to pay (various amounts, call it $7 million) by the end of August and may be on the hook for much of $50 million. His legal insurance covers $16 million but the insurance company there is trying to revoke the policy because Harry lied about his key witness who had dropped out of the case and withdrawn all of his claims.

Regarding earthquakes along the Ring of Fire...

USGS tracks hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of earthquakes every day. Most are small; too small to be felt.

The big ones, though...

The big ones are the ones that cause buildings to collapse and trigger landslides. Underwater landslides are the ones that trigger Tsunamis.

TBH, while I do know a bit (well, a little bit) about these things, but not too good at really TALKING about them. If you're curious, please feel free to go to the USGS website; they're happy to post about these things and are (OBVIOUSLY) a LOT more knowledgeable about them.

Tibet/Nepal Disaster

As Douglas mentioned, the original diaster it appears was not caused by an Earthquake - but by a Glacier/Mountainside melting or pure collapse causing an avalanche - which dragged a huge amount of water/mud down the valley - which then caused the flood when it hit a river.

Some of that debris has blocked a valley creating a lake - and they are now worried that blockage will fail and causing another flood.

Over 600 have died and over 2,400 people are still missing - so hopefully some of those missing peolpe will be found alive.

Apparently, there was an avalanche as a couple of miles of glacier 600 meters wide slid down the mountain into a river. This made enough noise to trigger earthquake detectors.

AI is a complex subject.

AI support for business activities can be a game changer, allowing each employee to do more things in less time, which might eliminate jobs if three pecan do what 15 used to do.

AI data centers is a complex subject we don’t need to discuss.

AI writing including YouTube scripts is seriously questionable with a serious problem of creating false history that gets picked up by other AI bots and repeated.

AI art gets real artists all upset because it threatens their income. On the other hand, it is a barrel of fun to play with AI generators and create video of politicians you don’t like do hilarious things. But it can also produce ridiculous mistakes such as German soldiers with a mix of Army, SS, Luftwaffe, US, and British insignia.

For sure - AI for business is very useful. Especially as it is extremely good at doing things humans find boring, and so things humans are going to be error-prone at.

Analyzing code to determine what it actually does, rather than what it was intended to do...documenting things...verifying instructions work as expected...writing and running test cases...

Very tedious work that is also quite time-consuming. But also deterministic - the output from the bot is either right or it's wrong.

AI is quite valuable for that, and businesses that don't work AI agents of some kind into their workflows are going to fall behind those that do.

I see a future in which AI gets so advanced that it will replace humanity as the most capable life on Earth; the dominant form of life.
