James Eller. The rules for the planet and base cards are in one of the Captain's Logs. I'll look up the rules when I get home tonight.

I don't know what the appropriate topic is for this, so I'll just say it here. Last night Brook Villa, Chris Dixon and I played our 1st game of SFBF and we had a blast. You have a sure sell for the next expansion.

By Christopher Marti (Chris) on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 11:46 am: Edit

Speaking of playtesters, my group plays SFBF at least once a week (if not more), and the other guys are dying for an expansion. We'd be willing to playtest even if all we had to go on were card names and stats (we could fake some up if we had the info, and could give feedback pretty quick).

Hello!
I have recent discovered SFBF and am quite excited about it. I see from this board that about a year ago the planned release of expansion sets was announced, but evidently this has not happened, yet. Any word on this, is the proposal still on the table???

By Tony L Thomas (Scoutdad) on Monday, May 02, 2005 - 07:07 pm: Edit

James,

At last notice, the expansions were scheduled for Fall of '05; but with recent family issues concerning Steve's Mother and Father... everything has been delayed, including the SFBF expansion.

But hopefully , not for too long...
:(

Thanks, Tony,
I hope Steve's family situations are...happily resolved. In the meantime, good gaming to you!

Hi!
I just found out about this game last night while looking for info on SFB (I got an old copy of Starfleet Command and I got really intrested in this 'starfleet universe'). I played the old Decipher Star Trek game and always thought ot was missing out on space combat, I also used too play a game I really enjoyed called Modern Naval battles which looks very similar too SFBF. My main question is... Are all the rules supplements located in the SFB "captain's log's" or are they available online? I would really like too play this game but if all the rules expansions are in those $30+ books it seems a little cost prohibitive. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Nicolas. The only offical rules are those published in the SFBF boxed set. Some Captains Logs do have PLAYEST material for SFBF, but all of that will be published in the actual expansions. There are a few tertiary supplements in Captains Logs which likely won't be published (Planets and Bases for example) but the core stuff (new ships, etc.) all will be.

Andy: We've already announced that one of the four expansions includes the bases and planets.

Nick it a great game. A nice but familair twist to the SFU. Easy to learn and play but yet very challenging against a good opponent. You will like it!

When can I expect the expansions to be released?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, September 06, 2005 - 01:16 am: Edit

When we release them. Ok, seriously, I'm not try to jerk you around. I simply don't know. The problem is that printing cards is a huge chunk of change and we're going through things with a lower cost and higher payout first. As noted elsewhere, the "new" plan is to design them and send them to testing later this fall (after Fed Commander, which has priority over everything) and then put them on the cart for pre-orders. Once the pre-orders reach the point that we won't be betting the company on the printing bill, they'll go to press.

Steve ,

Do you need more Playtesters for the above mentioned playtesting of the expansions? If so I would like to volunteer and lmk how I can help.

Thanks
Fred

I have been heming and hawing about buying this game for quite some time. I finaly did and am so pleased I will buy any and all expantions.

My hole famly likes this game! Its eazy to teach and very fun. Osome Product I would love to do some demo games for Task Force Games at the Game Matrix in Tacoma Wa. I will have to talk to the Store Owner and get Permision and Iron out some of the details with him.

Is there any posters you could give him to help anounce and sell Task Force Game products?

By Michael Powers (Mtpowers) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 - 01:04 pm: Edit

Heh heh, you'll have some trouble doing demos for Task Force Games. Amarillo Design Bureau, on the other hand, would probably be more than happy to have you do demos.

By Andy Palmer (Andypalmer) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 - 01:05 pm: Edit

Tim. First thing I'd do if I were you would be to get the company right. TFG used to publish games by ADB (Amarillo Design Bureau), but now ADB does their own publishing.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 - 02:06 pm: Edit

And TFG was long dead before Battleforce happened.

"I finaly did and am so pleased I will buy any and all expantions."

Yes!!!

And what do we need to do to get the ball rolling with this? I understand that Fed Commander is sucking down ADB's time (and justafiably so), but what can we do to hasten an expansion? WE NEED HYDRANS GOSHDARNIT!!!!!

As time goes on, Ken is being more and more valuable to me. For example, he is doing the FC/MH countersheets; previously I was the only one who could do them.

The TedG art for FC/MH is the same as for the card games so when we're ready to do card games we will already have the art.

The trick is for me to get beyond FC and CL32 and get the "lost" RPG books safely on (Ken's) track. Once that happens, I can work on other projects, not least being SFBFX.

The trick then would be to "design" about 80-90% of each of the four expansions, and have a selection of assorted cards that could easily fill up the remaining slots. Send all of that to test and when it works, print it.

By Tos Crawford (Tos) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 - 03:46 pm: Edit

I'm not sure since I haven't seen FC, but I'd expect anyone who purchases FC to also enjoy SFBF. A SFBF expansion and high FC sales might be the excuse needed to get ADB back into the retail channel lime-light.

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 - 09:25 pm: Edit

Well, two things of note:

Because of the way I'm laying out the countersheets for FedComm, I'm effectively creating SFBF ship cards as I do it. (I cut and paste the artwork into a ship card template, scale it to fit there, turn off all the background layers and weapon data, put a glow in, link to the photoshop file from the countersheet, and viola, it's done...)

This means that not only is the artwork done for the expansions, but many of the cards are, at least, started.

By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Friday, October 14, 2005 - 07:19 am: Edit

Very cool...and of course efficient. Even if tweaking will be needed at least the construction of the expansion will not be from total scratch. Very smart of you and SVC to do this.

By Kirk Knapp (Captain_Kirk) on Monday, November 28, 2005 - 10:55 pm: Edit

Any chance one of these will be done by Christmas?
