Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board: Federation & Empire: F&E PRODUCTS: F&E Future Products (Near Term): F&E Civil Wars: Civil Wars: General: Archive through June 20, 2011

The alpha-bravo system would be for the product to include one sheet of "civil war alpha" and two or three or four or five sheets of "civil war bravo". Thus, the Seltorian Hive Ship (and an alternative nest ship) might go on Alpha but their war cruisers would go on bravo. Get it?

Yes, thank you.

I really appreciate ADB making the resent efforts to minimize or eliminate redundant counters of limited or no value beyond the one or two that one would ever need. I have dozens of unneeded LAVs & SAVs from the Marine Assault days because there were not enough Prime Teams in the counter mix (I purchased extra counters just to have enough PTs).

The Alpha-Bravo system looks like it would have the right mix and I'll have no issues with buying many extra Bravos so that I can have more of the ships I need and not the ones I don't.

Thanks again.

as much as I would love to have Fed/Klingon Civil War ships, the scope of the counters needed would (in my opinion) be unworkable for a single product. I think that instead multiple full products, keep Civil war to the historical conflicts. Maybe if a product for counters is available, a counter expansion Feds and Klingons can be sold as a separate counter only product. e23 and Captains Log can be used for scenarios using these counters...

By Charles Shevlin (Chass22) on Wednesday, June 01, 2011 - 04:37 pm: Edit

I like the way it looks as one product. Isee it as
Fed.
Lyran
Parvarians
2nd Lyran
Peladines
Carnivon
(Kl. civil war)
Vudar
Romulans
Wyn
2nd Romulan
LDR(yes Mike there Values are diferent)
Kz.
Selttorian

Normaly I only buy 2 copies of F&E expantions. This one I will need to order 4 from my local game store.

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Wednesday, June 01, 2011 - 07:18 pm: Edit

Uh, two different sets of alternative Lyrans and Romulans? Really? You did read the part about one counter sheet, right?

By John de Michele (Jdemichele) on Wednesday, June 01, 2011 - 09:39 pm: Edit

Yeah, that seems a bit excessive. I doubt that we'll see the Carnivons, Paravians, or Peladines at all given that they would probably appear in an Early Wars-type product.

John.

Mike John you did not look closely to Steve Cole's counter post on May 11th.
2nd Lyrans and Romulans stand for the second set of 20 counters. In later posts Steve Cole states that he would like the Carnavons and Paravians in Civil Wars. Peladines and _______ Free States*(Kl. Civil war) are gueses for the gray and white counter spaces.

*I can not find or remember the first name for the Free States but I beleave they can replace the Kl. northern and northern reserve fleets.

Kaltic

By Charles Shevlin (Chass22) on Friday, June 03, 2011 - 01:35 am: Edit

Thank you Richard.

By Terry O'Carroll (Terryoc) on Friday, June 03, 2011 - 04:12 am: Edit

IIRC there may exist an F&E "simulator scenario" for the Kaltic Freestates in an OOP issue of Captain's Log. The mythical Kaltics are occupied by the Frax simulator empire, and the yearly wargames conducted by the Klingons were preparation for the eventual invasion of the Kzinti Patriarchy.

Charles:

SVC didn't say anything to indicate that the Carnivons and Paravians would be included. In his May 11 post, he said not to take the counter sheet too seriously. In his May 13 post, he said that he was against the idea of having multiple 'Civil Wars' products. I'm not sure how you read both of those, and interpreted that the Carnivons and Paravians would definitely be in the product. If they are, great. I just think it's a little too soon to definitively say what's going to be in it.

John.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, June 03, 2011 - 11:14 am: Edit

Yep, way too soon. Most of that stuff isn't even designed yet, and we don't know how "big" it is in terms of counters or rules text. I half suspect that not everything I want to do will happen, but I don't know. I'd love to have Paravians and carnivons as general war nuisances, but it's anybody's guess if that can happen. Those might be better in another pack since they aren't "civil war" stuff anyway. Similarly, the Seltorians could easily be sent to Tactical Operations.

By Charles Chapel (Ctchapel) on Friday, June 10, 2011 - 12:16 am: Edit

Don't forget the Pelidine!

As a possible Civil War or General War faction/nuisance, they could be used against the Hydrans and/or the Lyrans.

Most of their stuff was in Stellar Shadows 1.
It was pretty comprehensive for the day, but could use a review in light of the rules and OB changes to the other empires since the first publication.

In a radical thought, lets get them on the map!

In the Gurps RPG the LDR is described as having some Ranel & Phelan there. As a "what if", the Pelidine re-emerge on the galactic stage by "politically" replacing the Lyrans after some disease/disaster reduces the population of the felines below being the majority race.

Just thinking, not married to it.

Now that ISC War has gone to press (along with it the large Pacification scenario), I am really looking forward to working with SVC on this module.

As a nearly retired senior officer at HQ Air Force Space Command, I have enjoyed the mission of Commanding, Planning, Organizing, Training, and Equipping forces. With the F&E Civil Wars module we have limited OOBs, theaters of action, and resultant smaller scenarios (which involves CPOT&E.) This means we can have detailed, historical scenarios that are playable at a single or multi-day (not months) setting -- ideal for training new players that we will need to grow this game system.

I look forward to going to Origins next week and discussing your ideas in person as there is no better place to develop future F&E products than in-person with the designer Steve Cole, the staff, and the F&E "power" players that attend and influence the future of F&E. Where else in the gaming industry do you have a game designer dedicating specific time and asking EVERY ATTENDEE DIRECTLY (in F&E's organized, public forum) what one aspect that YOU would like to see incorporated into the game system? Think carefully, talk with the staff and other players at Origins, and be prepared to respond when asked during the forum.

See you there...cheers!

Tim:

Civility in this topic please. :)

By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Sunday, June 19, 2011 - 02:18 pm: Edit

Yes, there were not enough e's expended. You are putting the e makers out of work!

By Tim Losberg (Krager) on Sunday, June 19, 2011 - 07:01 pm: Edit

wouldn't want to wreck the e-conomy :)

By Gary Carney (Nerroth) on Sunday, June 19, 2011 - 09:41 pm: Edit

Has it actually been confirmed whether or not this will be the next module for F&E?

In any event, as someone who won't be able to go, I wish those of you who will be there the best of luck; and hope that in all of the brainstorming you are set to get involved in, that you leave a few ideas spare for the rest of us to chip in later on!

By John de Michele (Jdemichele) on Monday, June 20, 2011 - 10:49 am: Edit

Gary:

I think the general consensus is that Civil Wars is what people want next. I was hoping for the Andromedans next, but I fear that is not to be. Still, I hope Civil Wars gets done quickly.

John.

By Gary Carney (Nerroth) on Monday, June 20, 2011 - 11:41 am: Edit

John:

Well, even if what you say is true, at least it would line up more dominoes for future Andromedan players to knock down!

Depending on just how far in the future that might be, of course...

Actually, now that I think of it, any Romulan and Lyran civil war counters would help facilitate a scenario set in the alternate timeline shown in Module C3A...

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Monday, June 20, 2011 - 02:10 pm: Edit

Nope, it has not been confirmed as the next module for F&E as of yet.

By Symon Cook (Symon) on Monday, June 20, 2011 - 02:12 pm: Edit

Though it has been confirmed it will be needed before Andromendans can be done. (LDR etc needed).

By John de Michele (Jdemichele) on Monday, June 20, 2011 - 02:18 pm: Edit

Richard,

Strictly speaking, that's true, but I can't think of another module that has a better chance of happening first.

John.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Monday, June 20, 2011 - 03:41 pm: Edit

Well, strictly speaking, I answered his question correctly and you did not. Hence my post.
