Scott, have you seen the map used in the Cyberboard version of F&E? It's really nice looking; if you are open to changes you should imo do something like that.

Any progress to report on those 7 outstanding issues you had been working on?

By Scott Burleson (Burl) on Saturday, July 23, 2011 - 02:46 pm: Edit

I would say that we are really down to about 4 now. I also think all 4 of these can be worked around.

Playtesting and graphics are really the main concern. In response to Richard, I do think the Cyberboard version is nice. I think we have the framework to make the graphics as nice in F&E OL, but I need someone else to spend that time.

I am spending time making the board and pieces smart, making sure the pieces know their attack values, the phases of combat, etc.

Are you into the play testing phase yet?

What will be the criteria for play-testers?

Hey Scott!

I've been waiting a long time for a computerized F&E! What's been taking so long?

Tell "D" I said "hi."

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Wednesday, October 05, 2011 - 12:00 pm: Edit

Usage: ping [-LRUbdfnqrvVaA] [-c count] [-i interval] [-w deadline]
[-p pattern] [-s packetsize] [-t ttl] [-I interface or address]
[-M mtu discovery hint] [-S sndbuf]
[ -T timestamp option ] [ -Q tos ] [hop1 ...] destination

ping -w

By James Lowry (Rindis) on Wednesday, October 05, 2011 - 12:44 pm: Edit

Usage: ping [-LRUbdfnqrvVaA] ... [ -Q tos ]

Shouldn't that be tng? :P

By Ken Kazinski (Kjkazinski) on Wednesday, October 05, 2011 - 07:58 pm: Edit

ping -t does a continuous ping.

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Thursday, October 06, 2011 - 09:36 am: Edit

ping's args (and behavior) are OS specific. Windows does -t, Linux doesn't (but does the continuous ping without needing to be told to).

Any headway on this? I'm getting desperate enough for some F&E time that I'm contemplating learning either Cyberboard or Vassal, but I don't want to do that and then find that the new online F&E is getting released soon.

Much confusion and re-learning would then ensue.

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Thursday, December 22, 2011 - 01:52 pm: Edit

F&E Online was mentioned on last weeks talkshoe that they are shooting for a Origins (June) release.

By Richard B. Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Thursday, December 22, 2011 - 02:46 pm: Edit

In the meantime, I suggest learning Cyberboard or Vassal, much more opportunity to play people using those right now.

By William Stec (Billstec2) on Thursday, December 22, 2011 - 02:46 pm: Edit

Um, okay, that's what was said last year before Origins... :)

I have some idea what Scott was going through before, so it's no surprise things have slowed down, but it's dissapointing nonetheless.

I'll go and fool with Vassal then and see if I can figure it out.

is this deal dead gone or lost

Scott,

Have you made any progress?

By Michael H.Oliver (Mholiver) on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 - 06:57 pm: Edit

hello

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 - 09:50 pm: Edit

You might ask if anyone has email contact with or knows him personally. He hasn't posted on the bbs since 4 Aug 2011.

By Tony L Thomas (Scoutdad) on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 - 10:12 pm: Edit

He has some real life issues that are currently taking precidence. He hasn't given up on F&EOL... just working slowly.

By Scott Burleson (Burl) on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 - 10:23 pm: Edit

I am alive. Not much progress lately. I will see what I can do to get back on track. I should at least be able to start checking the board again regularly which I haven't all winter.

Scott - sent a e-mail to you awhile back and have not heard anything.

Since I have 1159 F&E hexes mapped out on PAPER (ugh) from two decades of playing the grand campaign "Apocalypse", I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions (other than MS-Paint, which I've used HERE) to convert paper drawings on a hex grid to a clean digital format?
