As I mentioned to you Rich, yes. I'm 90% done on extensions for both of them (and the Andromedans). They'll be included in the full package.
Even better, with the new model of how the capture list works, if you have those modules active, you'll see them as choices for capturing. If you don't, you don't see those entries.

Awesome work, James!
Many thanks for investing your precious time in this projekt.
That is something that cannot be taken for granted.

Ah good, my memory was a little murky as to how that was going. I look forward to the next full package. Let me know if you need me to do anything else to help you.

Awesome work James.
Really appreciate what you've done and what you're doing with this module.

James,
A couple more suggestions:
1: When a Prime team is killed, give an option to return it to owning empire's chart.
2: When a captured ship (with a flag) is sent to salvage it goes to the original owner's chart instead of the current owner's chart.

I concur with Mike

#1 needs doing.
#2 sounds great, but is really difficult. (Well, maybe if I... gah, that means re-writing the entire set of protypes... >.< )

Just because we ask doesn't mean we will get it...

I feel very sympathetic to James on point #2, I've had more than my share of such revelations.

So here is a thing I have run into and can't figure out.
I'm still using F+E 3.1.19 for my current game. I have placed the "Unexplored" overlays on those 5 South Eastern Romulan provinces for the start of CT10. Which are cool. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove them one I place them.
I have tried control-click; command-click; option-click (all three of which seem like they might do something. But they don't). I can't select them and drag them. I can't do anything to them once they are on the map.
Anyone have any ideas?
By James Lowry (Rindis) on Sunday, December 31, 2017 - 03:17 am: Edit |
Shift-click to select them. Right-click to bring up the menu. (Or just shift-right-click to select and bring up the menu.)

Ah. *Shift* click. I never considered that. Thanks!

i'm running F&E module 2.0 on vassal 3.2.16, windows 10, current JRE. i attempt to fire up "the wind", it takes easily a minute to load and when it does... no map displayed. i can bring up fleets, the battle map, all the "census" options seem to work, just cant see the map or anything on it. any suggestions? thanks

The message screen is taking up the full screen. Try putting your cursor on the bottom of the screen. You should get an up and down arrow to drag the split between the message window and the map window up.

*blushing* that, uh, might help.

You can adjust the amount memory given to Vassal in the preferences, heap size of up to 2Gb ought to be okay for most JVMs, if you have the memory to spare. I've found the Mac version can really use more than the standard heap size.

hi again
im trying to load a save game, i get a ton of "bad data/ image missing" messages and the comment "this game was saved with extension 4PW 1.6 loaded"
so my question is where do i go to *get* that extension so i can drop it into the folder that wants it?
By James Lowry (Rindis) on Wednesday, June 06, 2018 - 04:21 pm: Edit |
That sounds like you're trying to open a file from the old module. v1.x save files are not compatible with v2.x.
If you really want to open that file, I can dig out my archived version of 1.3 and send it to you.

So I have a game Im running with Peter B and I suspect its on an older version of Vassal and the F&E module.
I'd like to get the newest version on my new laptop so I dont have to fire up the old laptop (I think F&E is now the only thing I have on there I dont have on my new).
Able to shed some light on my best options?
Cheers.

Not sure if this is the proper place to ask but I will ask anyway: What are the specs needed for a computer to be able to use either Vassal or Cyberboard? Can IMacs be used? I am in the process of getting a new computer and figure I should get one that will let me reenter the gaming verse of FE.

Cyberboard is VERY simple. I have never seen a modern Windows machine (i.e., since 2008) that couldn't handle it. In fact, it doesn't even install. I've run it straight out of drop box by double clicking on the executable file in my remote storage.
Cyberboard does NOT work on an Apple iOS. However, you could run a Mac as a Windows clone and run Cyberboard.
I don't know about Vassal - but I've loaded it on a Windows machine and it's a pretty basic program.

Thank you so much for the info. Greatly appreciated.

For Vassal you need Java, otherwise it is pretty simple on the interface side. The data side can be a little bit extra especially with a large game like F&E. Just be patient. It will be worth the load time.

Vassal is cross-platform.

Vassal is cross-platform but you must have Java installed for it to work.
