Folks, it is about three months out from the proposed StratCon. I think we need to have a feel of who is coming. We understand that if you feel sick at the time of the con, you won't come.

Set up can happen as early as Sunday, June 20, 2021. Play would start on June 21. We'd ask that you would be winding up on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Please sound off, either yea or nay, on probable attendance.

I can’t say yet, no probable outlook for vaccine yet and I would need to have at least the first dose before considering and planning flights.

Saw this Peanuts strip in the paper the other day. Didn't know Sally was planning on attending StratCon!

We are two months out from STRATCON and we need to see if we are going to have a viable number of players.

These are the ones who have said they can make it.
Ryan Opel
Mike Curtis
Jason Schaff

Joe Stevenson

These are the ones who might be able to make it.

Chuck Strong
Tim Losberg

Can't make it.
Tony L Thomas

John Robinson

Do we have any others?

If we don't have 6 confirmed players by May 15th this will be cancelled.

I will make it if Chuck and Mike and Ryan do, but I doubt I count as one of the six. If they make it, I will dedicate the entire week of the con to updating rulebooks to WARBOOK status and will send every attendee home with free updated rulebooks. The opportunity for in-person discussions/debates/arguments with the staff is too good to miss. It is a unique opportunity.

Currently I am not going to be able to attend. Being unemployed again sucks.

I'm out. Summer Welcome on the MU campus will be in full swing, and I'll be needed for that.

Up to a 5% chance of actually going.

Chuck, I know life is complicated but Stratcon-Amarillo presents a unique opportunity that has never happened before and might never happen again, that is, the opportunity for you and I (along with Mike and Ryan and anyone else who wants to help) to produce updated rulebooks for one, two, or maybe more of the F&E modules, getting us a long way toward the Warbook. Indeed, if you+Mike+Ryan stayed a couple of extra days or gave up a couple of days of gaming we just might have the whole warbook done (famous last words). We never had this chance at Origins (where I am busy in the booth, exhausted, and distracted by a hundred others who want to talk to me). This only works because we can all sit around a table and debate the rules with full interaction.

What I will say is that if you+Fear+Ryan all get in one place for a week of gaming and two or three or four days of editing, I will clean the schedule and do nothing for any of those days but work on editing rulebooks. See the other post describing two methods, one of which would update Planetary Ops in a week, the other of which would update one of the others in a day.

Stratcon-Amarillo is bigger than both of us, Chuck, an opportunity everyone will regret seeing the four of us miss.

For those of us that can't make it, is there any possibility for videos from the event to get posted to Youtube?

By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Sunday, April 25, 2021 - 12:17 am: Edit

You know, I have a ton of use-or-lose leave. I'm considering driving down, not to play, but see the gang.

PRESS PAUSE
Don't panic, but don't make non-refundable plans over the next week. I should know more early next week. (Reportedly, one person already bought tickets, which was a leap of faith we would not have recommended. Let's not make it worse in case we have to do something.)

We don't know yet if there will be enough people, and there may be Covid issues. We are digging into those questions and have experts working the problem. We intend to find a solution.

All of us at ADB and Casa Jean are committed to having a meeting which will be productive, entertaining, and safe. Rule one: nobody gets sick, nobody goes to the hospital, nobody dies.

By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 - 11:59 am: Edit

No worries...My tickets are changeable and there isn't even a fee at the moment. I had to travel to UTAH the week before and since I was in there booking flights I decided to book the flight home from SLC toward TX instead. I can reroute easily enough.

Are the Covid restrictions there changing?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, April 30, 2021 - 03:54 pm: Edit

There are more covid considerations than anyone could count, and as Zac says, they are subject to being changed without notice. City, county, state, US are just the start. Insurance companies add their own limits and restrictions (or just say that your insurance does not cover people suing you if they caught Covid after visiting you), and lawyers who advise people on such things add their own restrictions (e.g., "as your attorney I advise you to delay this convention at least fifteen years.") We will require everyone attending to sign a waiver before they make their travel arrangements. We will post that next week.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, May 05, 2021 - 08:36 am: Edit

I will try to get the waiver posted by tomorrow or Friday. It's not under my control. I can only ask those doing it to get it done.

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, May 10, 2021 - 10:05 pm: Edit

SVC,

Any word on the waiver paperwork?
