I was told last Thursday I would have it last Friday. I made a call today and was told we'd have it soon.

Waiver is here! Fill it out, attach as directed, email it to Jean and to ADB or mail a hard copy to ADB.

What are the Covid related procedures going to be?

Have you got room for a relative F&E novice? I've collected and read F&E since the late 80s, but never managed more than a turn here and there. I'd love to watch/participate in a game run by skilled players.
I'd be driving from Phoenix, and happy to pick up anyone on that stretch of I-40 that needs a ride.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 09:33 am: Edit |
That is up to Jean. I would imagine blood tests and quarantine won't be part of it. Last I heard nobody will be wearing masks but hand sanitizer and temperature checks wouldn't be obtrusive, but it's up to her.
At ADB, we make it a point to stay a few feet apart. If Jean checked temperatures I don't see why we have to temperature check the same people.
By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 10:57 am: Edit |
We are going to have hand sanitizer throughout the house. We can do temperature checks, but we also ask that if you don't feel well, not to come. I *think* everyone but one person has been vaccinated, so that easily falls within CDC guidelines for small group gatherings. Wearing a mask is at your discretion.
By Mike Curtis (Nashvillen) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 12:05 pm: Edit |
Christopher, there is always room for novices. But, expect to be thrown in the deep end. We will give you a type 4 throwable, but you will have to tread water a lot on your own. We won't leave you hanging, but do expect you to learn quickly. We are a friendly bunch, for the most part. Sarcastic at times, but friendly.
By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 12:29 pm: Edit |
Sarcastic at times? No!!!!! You are all flowing with the milk of Human kindness!
By Douglas Lampert (Dlampert) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 02:49 pm: Edit |
My boss earlier today was looking at a course on conflict resolution in the workplace, and asked us which sorts of behavior we found most upsetting out of a long list.
Sarcasm was on the list. I objected that not only did I not find it objectionable, but that it was my normal mode of interaction.
I'm in something of Cristopher's situation, never played anything close to the full game and mildly interested in coming out but I haven't opened the subject with the wife yet.
By Christopher Feola (Cfeola) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 04:54 pm: Edit |
I'm pretty quick on the uptake, and I'll make every effort to keep up. Including a crash rules refresher before showing up.
I haven't been issued a wife, so it's just a matter of clearing the schedule that week and making sure I've got the cheddar to cover expenses. Gotta start poking around for cheap digs in Amarillo...
I will officially commit on 5-21.
Oh, and for Jean: I am fully vaccinated and love dogs!
By Thomas Mathews (Turtle) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 06:51 pm: Edit |
Christopher I suggest you reach to Lar who is on this board a lot and is planning to attend as well.

Jean, will the swoopy sleeves of destruction make their usual appearance?
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 09:06 pm: Edit |
I have the waiver...I will send it back soon.
If I can get the airlines to stop fiddling with my flights that would be great.
I do not yet have accommodations. Contemplating several options. What is the expected temp/weather for this time of year?
By Chuck Strong (Raider) on Thursday, May 13, 2021 - 04:35 am: Edit |
Hot. Thunderstorms, Hot, humid. Hot. Tornado-Watch, Hot, Hail, wind. Hot. Nice sunsets...

I have a suite at the Best Western Medical Center for Ryan, Chuck, and I reserved.

Hotels on the west side of town tend to be the nicest ones. The one that Mike has mentioned is pretty good.
Atrea Inn has just remodeled a hotel on Paramount. I don't know if they are open yet, but you can reach them here: 2035 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79109•(806) 803-2590 I don't think they have many amenities. They are also close to ADB and to us. Popeyes is the only fast-food place near there, but the hotel is right beside my favorite Chinese restaurant and not far from our favorite pizza place. The nice thing is they are new, but that could be a disadvantage, too. The other hotels in that area seem to show up on the news a bit more than the ones on the west.

We have good A/C and ceiling fans where the gaming will happen. We'll make sure you are comfortable.

As long as your ceiling fans are not large swoopy sleeves they should be fine...

Vacation time approved, waiver submitted, and flights booked. Arriving 4 pm 06/20 and departing 6:25 pm 06/26. (Unfortunately there were no available flight arrangements for 6/27 that didn't involve unreasonable departure / arrival times or an absurdly long layover at DFW.)
WOOT!!!!
By Christopher Feola (Cfeola) on Monday, May 17, 2021 - 01:25 pm: Edit |
Sorry to report that I have a commitment which I can neither reschedule nor ignore, so I will have to give this a miss.
By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 - 07:51 pm: Edit |
And I have reserved a 2-bed room at the Best Western Medical Center (same hotel as Mike/Ryan/Chuck). If someone else wants to split a room, shoot me an e-mail (address in profile).

I have made my airline reservations for my trip to StratConADB. Looking forward to seeing everybody there.
By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Monday, May 24, 2021 - 03:31 pm: Edit |
After consultation with SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed), we're going to try to make it out there for the 20th and maybe the 21st. Sadly, I cannot stay longer due to work obligations - but at least I can participate some and meet a bunch of you guys!
I'd put me down at a 9/10 of attending part of the time.
By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, May 24, 2021 - 04:10 pm: Edit |
Ted,
The 20th is setup and arrival day. We don't plan on starting to play until the 21st.
Ryan
