COALITION TURN 6
The turn is completed. This turn was MUCH quieter than CT5, but still had some fireworks.
Econ
Klingon Highlights:
-Paid the piper to prevent extra economic exhaustion, so had to make hard choices. Paid 11.2 in interest and then another 30 to reduce the national debt to 82.
-Current B10 status: #1 is at 21; swarm at 20.
-Gave up C8 production for a second B10 roll for 5 EPs (remember I said hard choices!) – and only rolled a 2. Cest la vive.
-Did NOT activate any mothballs this turn. They can wait. Hard choices.
-Otherwise full production.
-MISC: 43.5 EPs in repairs. COEs continuing F5 shipyards. 12 EPs using CDR for various specialty ships (2*D6D, D6M, FD7, D7C, D7V).
-No WYN trade this turn (hard choices) but did pick up EPs during a BR.
Klingon Eco
Lyran Highlights:
-6.4 in interest, national debt 64, but paid down by 2 to 62.
-Full builds, including DNL, tug, STJ, CWE.
-Converted CW->CVL (CDR) and a CA ->DN and a CL->CLS (CDR)
--MISC: 41 EPs in reparis. COEs work on FF shipyards. TGP begins Maj. Conv. yard for 5 EPs.
Lyran Eco
Romulan Highlights:
Romulans convert a WE to FAL using DIP income.
Romulan Eco
Raids
-Raids in 1801, connecting conveyor system (114), and 219 succeed.
-Raid in 1805 fails.
Operational
Overall, I tried to keep things low key after last turn’s brutal events. However, I held back a lot for reserves. I also moved a bunch of ships to the Fed border.
Kzinti Theater:
-Dogpile 1401.
-Take back abandoned planet 1001
Hydran Theater:
-Attacked BATS 318 and minor planet 519, each lightly defended.
-Avoided the main Hydran fleet sitting on 215 (79 SEQ)
-Began setting up Klingon MB over Hydrax Major
Alliance Reserves
Kzinti Theater:
-1 12 ship reserve hits up my small picket force in 1001; saving the planet and sac’ing an E4.
The other reserve goes to 1401
Hydran Theater:
-Two weak reserves, one goes to 318, the other stays offmap.
Combat Phase
Kzinti Theater.
We fight 5 rounds over 1401 while I re-devastate all of the outer planets. I leave Kzintai Major alone.
Tale of the Tape:
Klingon KIA: D6D (directed), F5L (self kill), F5J (pursuit)
Klingon WIA: D6, D5
Lyran KIA: BC (directed)
Lyran WIA: 1*BC, 2*CW, 2*CL, 3*DW
Kzinti KIA: FF, 3*EFF, FKE (all but 1 directed on autokill).
Kzinti WIA: None, but 7 outer planets in capital system are devastated
Hydran theater.
Relatively quiet turn, unless you were in the thick of the two skirmishes… Planet 519 is conquered, and BATS 318 is destroyed.
The Hydrans only had the PDUs and a MON at 318. I had lots of AUX CVs, so he couldn’t hurt me.
They had a very weak force at 318, and I had lots of fighters – which is why I managed to only get away with a single E4A crippled.
Tale of the Tape:
Klingon KIA: None
Klingon WIA: E4A
Lyran KIA: None
Lyran WIA: None
Hydran KIA: CU, HN, FHL, FTS, MON, 2*PDU, BATS
Hydran WIA: LAV, KN, CU (I crippled this LAV group on slow pursuit – it was that or kill a CU and let the rest fall on fighters – and I decided to make him pay 3.5 EPs in repairs rather than kill the CU).
End of Turn
This turn I held back a lot of units during operational, as I could afford to. So I have 7 powerful reserves.
2 Klingon reserves in 617.
1 Klingon reserve in 1403.
1 Klingon reserve in 1807.
1 Lyran reserve in 1506.
2 Lyran reserves in 1202.
Lyrans setup a MB in 1807.
I setup to have a fairly good Federation invasion on CT7. I’ve got some 150 or so SEQ ready to attack, so it won’t be anemic. I wouldn’t call it crushing, but it should be pretty eventful when CT7 rolls around.
They are evenly distributed, vaguely. I’ve got about 50 SEQ in the Northeast, 50 SEQ in the central East region, and about 50 SEQ in the Southeast region.
Over to Gary for AT6!!!

Alliance Turn 6
It's not clear where the Coalition will focus on T7:
Hydran Front
Coalition has 135+ in range of 0215
Kzinti Front
C has 120 within range of 1401 or 1704,
and another 48 within range of 1704 or 2204
Federation Front?
C has 50 within range of 2211, 35 within range of 2915, and 19 more within range of either.
(All counts approximate)
Alliance turn may well be limited once again. Need to prepare for visitors at a number of starbases.
Kzinti
Income : 55
Build: MSC, FFK, FKE, 4xFF
Convert: BC>CVS, BC>CD
Repair: CVS, 2xCVL, 2xBC, 4xMEC, CLE, 6xFFK, 2xFKE, 2xEFF, TGC, TGT
The first time this game Z repairs have exceeded new construction.
The value of CDs were underestimated, I should have converted several the first couple of turns.
Hydran
Income: 24
Build: 2xCU, New Shipyard
Repair: RN, TR
Remaining cripples from Hydrax battle still limping home.
Most of the Hydran fleet sits on their last starbase in 0215.

Gary
CD's are good - but expensive hulls to be risked too often I find.
(Hence why D6D's aren't also used all the time).
Ep wise, things looks tight for the Kzinti ...and probably will not get any better?
I assume the Hydrans are not even close to being able to pin the Coalition out of 215?
By Gary Quick (Northquick) on Sunday, January 02, 2022 - 12:51 am: Edit |
The Kzinti are crying for EW, so even though expensive, it's better than the SF. The first MSC rolled off the line this turn, and that will be a nice help.
Hydrans cannot pin out from 215. Too much Coalition still in the area.
After some debate, Hydrans are going after L-0411. While Kzinti are going after captured planets.
By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Monday, January 03, 2022 - 11:40 am: Edit |
Green Clouds Gather over 411. 78 Hydran SEQ versus about 24 Lyran SEQ. He will have the starbase if he wants it! It's really only a matter of haggling over the butcher's bill...
At Klindai (1502) I sent both reserves so I've got a better balance of heavy and light ships now. He's got roughly 50 SEQ. I've got roughly 86 SEQ, but his mix of quality to riff-raff is better than mine. Meaning if I decide to hold the hex I will. However, if he's willing to fight for a while then I will pay a disproportionate butcher's bill. Question is - will he be willing to do that given the massive bill he just paid for the survivor's of Duke's SB?
So, for sure one major fight (411 - unless he runs for some reason), maybe a second major fight (if he decides to prosecute 1502 and I also decide it's worth fighting).
There's only two other combats remaining (1202 and 212), but both are blow-outs that will be quickly resolved. (There was another blow-out at 1001, which is now liberated).
By Gary Quick (Northquick) on Saturday, January 08, 2022 - 02:32 pm: Edit |
AT6 is done.
The Alliance continues to pick and choose targets while working on overall fleet compot.
Planet 1202 was liberated.
Efforts to liberate 1502 were repulsed.
Lyran SB 0411 was destroyed.
Overall Losses
Kzinti: 2xFF
Hydran: LB, RN, 3xDG, SC (WIA: TR, KN)
Lyran: SB, STT, CL, DWS, 2xFF, SAV, 2xFHL, Pol
The Hydrans lose cruisers wherever they fight, but this seemed a worthwhile exchange.
0215 will likely be a focus on the upcoming Coalition turn, and I will miss the lost cruisers.

CT7 has begun.
I will post eco later when I post the full turn summary. Nothing really unusual. Klingons bring spending under control but still borrow 8 more (coming close to limit) in order to get everything they wanted. Started a 2nd B10.
6 of 8 raids succeed, one Rom raid with a SUP sees a Fed POL die.
War is officially declared by activation of the Klingon IWR. Klingons ships start swarming over the border - 3 BATS attacked so far, but many more are coming.
A fleet of 25 Lyrans lands on Marquis SB - not enough to pin the 45 Kzintis there, but it's a start.
Pretty much everything in the HTO dogpiles SB 215.
Lots of moves left to go.
By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Thursday, January 13, 2022 - 11:02 am: Edit |
Operational continues, winding down but for a bit left in the KTO Northeast.
Three Alliance Starbases are under serious threat so far this turn - Hydran 215, Kzinti 1704, and Federation 2915.
All Federation border BATS are attacked with BATS busting forces (but for 2201), plus BATS 3016 and 2612 as well as planets 2715, 2214, and 2106 are also attacked - though 3rd fleet SB remains untouched (meaning its reserve can go save one of 9 targets in range (a 10th at planet 2214 has 22 SEQ Klingons, and so would defeat the 13 SEQ 3rd fleet reserve, but technically he could go there)). So far, effectively 17 Federation hardpoints are attacked on CT7.
All Marquis hardpoints are also attacked. There are two good Kzinti reserves offmap (14 SEQ and 10 SEQ) that could easily save BATS 1902 or 1802 or planet 1802 or a POL in 1702. However, I have 81 SEQ Coalition to 45 SEQ Kzinti at Marquis SB in 1704 - meaning that it would take at least one, if not both reserves to save 1704 (and if I fought hard enough I could still kill SB 1704 even if both reserves went there).
Klingons also try to retake 1001 and 1202 with token forces.
Operational movement continues, but I only have a few more fleets to move before reserves and combat commencing.
By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Friday, January 14, 2022 - 11:36 am: Edit |
Operational is concluded. Last Coalition movement was to attack Federation 4th SB with enough units to destroy it, potentially. So that means 4 Alliance starbases attacked this turn.
Alliance reserves.
Hydran goes to 215, but it is a small reserve with 4 small ships.
Both Kzinti reserves go to SB1704, potentially saving it - or at least making it very bloody for the Coalition.
The lone unpinned Federation 3rd fleet reserve goes north to minor planet 2106, and will stomp the 5 ship Klingon squadron there.
Combat to follow.
By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Friday, January 21, 2022 - 12:16 pm: Edit |
CT7 Combat is well along. All but 2 of 25 combats are completed. The majority of combats see the above-mentioned BATS and planets attacked/devastated (and a couple of Klingon ships stomped by a Federation reserve at planet 2106 (Western Worlds)).
The big battles were the 4 starbase assaults.
Hydran SB 215 assault is concluded. It lasted 5 rounds and saw the destruction of 5 Hydran cruisers (LB, 2*LM, LC, RN) a crippled KN, and a bunch of Hydran fighters. In turn, I lost a C8 (directed in form), TGA+AL (directed in form), D6M (directed), BC (directed), and a D6G (directed). I also had crippled CC, 2*D7, F5L, and 7*F5.
Of course, with the Hydrans putting up cruiser lines over a SB, I was fighting against 180+ compot lines, and taking heavy damage. However, combined with his assault on Lyran SB 411, the toll on Hydran cruisers has been heavy (loss of 10 in all).
Of great interest, the Hydrans captured BOTH the TG-A *and* the C8! Hydrans get a brand new DN class vessel (the C8H!). The Hydran King, invited to inspect the prize, described it as "roomy."
After all this carnage, the Coalition retreated without having done damage to SB215.
However, the entire Hydran navy now includes 3*DG, THR, and 3*TG in terms of cruiser hulls (not counting CWs). So, despite the captures, the Hydran navy is hurting bad. It has a grand total of roughly 85 SEQ. It is for this reason that the Klingon High Council described the starbase assault as "successful", despite the two captures and loss of heavy ships.
Admiral Kang was reported as sending a final communique to the Hydrans:
I'll be back!
The next SB assault was in 2915, some 23 Coalition SEQ against 13 Federation (the unreinforced 7th fleet). While smaller in scale, fighting was no less fierce. The Feds lost a CA and the Klingons lost a D6M to directed damage. Federation casualties also included CC, CA, DD, 2*FF, FFT, CFF as WIA. The SB was also destroyed.
Coalition casualties, in addition to the lost D6M, include a F5L (self killed), and the following cripples: 2*D7C, 4*D5, 2*AD5, F5E.
SB assault 2204 (4th fleet SB) was a bit larger in scale, and is now almost over (currently on round 6). Most of the Federation 4th fleet is now crippled. The Federation have lost 2*CA to maulers, and juicy Fed CF was directed when it was put up on the line. In turn, the Feds direct killed a D6M, a D6D, a Lyran DN, a Lyran CF and a Lyran CC.
While painful, the SB currently has 6*SIDS, 13 fighters left (started with a F-14 marker), and more than half of the 4th fleet crippled. The COM CON and FHL that had been present were both killed and given up for damage. Only a DNL, NCL, CA, CFF, 3*DD, and a SC remain uncrippled, so the writing is on the wall.
However, the Federation has given as good as it got, killing the DN, CC, Lyran CF, D6M, and D6D as indicated above. Additionally, the following units are crippled: D6M, FD7, D7V, F5E, E4A, 2*CW, CL, DD, DDG.
Coalition has the following units left: 3*D7C, 4*D5, F5L, 5*F5, 2*DD, DWS, DDG, 3&D6D, 2*D5H, 2*E4R, and E4S.
More than enough to ensure the destruction of the 4th fleet SB. So, as I said, the writing is on the wall. All that is in doubt is how much more damage the Coalition will take until the 4th Fleet SB is reduced to an expanding cloud of debris.
One HUGE fight is left - Marquis SB at 1704. With both Kzinti reserves going there, it is in doubt whether or not I can or will take it. I will evaluate later when I get to actually conducting this last battle of CT7.

SB assault at 2004 is concluded. 4th fleet starbase is destroyed. Only 2 more rounds, and one with the fleet present. I crippled a few more units, but that was it.
SB assault at 1704 is proceeding. With the two reserves it is questionable whether I will take the SB, but I elected to come in with the Lyrans spending a command point. So far, the Kzinti seem keen on preserving the SB, as they are crippling ships and husbanding fighter losses.
So far, 2 rounds of combat.
Kzinti KIA: EFF (required self kill)
Kzinti WIA: 2*BC, CL, CVS, MEC.
Kzinti Fighter count: 59 remaining of 91 to start.
Coalition KIA: D6S (directed on the line)
Coalition WIA: 2*C5, 3*CW
Coalition Fighter Count: 10 remaining of 16 to start.
Uncrippled Forces:
Kzinti Non-CV Forces: SB, ADM, DN, 2*CC, 5*FFK, 2*FF, 2*DF, MSC, 2*SF, 2*CD, 2*FFG, LAS

The battle for Marquis SB is over. It was a bloodbath. He could have held the SB, but chose to direct to kill some valuable units. However, the bulk of both sides forces were crippled before the battle was concluded.
Klingon KIA: D6S, D5, F5 (F5 made depot).
Klingon WIA: 2*C5, D6M, 5*D5, F5l, 4*F5, 2*E4
Lyran KIA: DN, DNL, STJ, CLS
Lyran WIA: 4*CC, L_DG, CF, 6*CW, 4*CL, 6*DW, FF, CVL, CWE, DWE, DWS, 2*SC, LTT+N, DWG
Kzinti KIA: SB, EFF, LAS, SAV

Brutal. Absolutely brutal. Dice tended to favor the Alliance, but not excessively so.
Combat is over - need to do EOT later.

The turn is completed.
What is important here is the reserves.
In 617 I've got a reserve of mostly AUX CVs that didn't move this turn. Zippee! but I had an extra reserve marker, so why not?
The other two Lyran reserves (both fairly strong, one more so) are on Klingon SB 1403 (along with some 65 other Coalition units) and Lyran SB 1507 (with an FRD park of 3 FRDs and FAR more cripples than they can repair from two SB battles).
Klingons put three strong reserves in 1611. The 4th (full, but not quite as strong) is put in 2214.
The Alliance could certainly attack some valuable Coalition assets this turn - including a Lyran MB that is improving to BATS in 1807, or the under-defended Lyran SB in 1506.
However, the interlocking reserves (each reserve has at least one other reserves (usually more) that can reach it) will make it very difficult to pin a reserve and buy something for the cheap.
So, Gary could definitely go get something valuable or even several somethings valuable, but I've made sure he cannot do so without paying a price somewhere.
Over to Gary for Alliance turn 7!!!

Kzinti Eco
Hydran Eco
Gorn Eco
RAID PHASE:
Federation, Kzinti, and Hydran raid a variety of provinces, mostly their own, to deny Coalition EPs and get back a few of their own.
Hydrans blast a hapless E4A picket with a LGE - rolls to be done yet but it's not looking good for the E4A. I'd love to see THAT battle in SFB. Wouldn't last long!
Hydrans also raid 3*FFT trying to setup a colony in Lyran space. Oops! Let's see what happens!
By Gary Quick (Northquick) on Saturday, February 05, 2022 - 04:49 pm: Edit |
Adding a little from the Alliance perspective on CT7.
The headline was certainly the 4 SB assaults.
1,2. Being T7, there just wasn't enough at the Fed Starbases to hold out too long. Basically, we fought as long as we could maintain full lines, and aimed for that as the defense terminus point.
3. The Coalition only brought 3 CR10 ships to the Hydran fight, so they were targeted and taken out over 5 rounds. Basically, the entire Hydran navy was present, so the fight would go long, and it seemed a way to knock down compot if he continued fighting.
4. Kzinti was a standard long drawn out fight. About R6 or so I thought that the Kzinti would not win, as the Coalition would likely resort to self-killing F5 in later rounds to keep up the fight. So, I took the opportunity to kill a few nice ships. Right choice?, dunno for sure.
AT7
Very quiet. Key focus areas are to extricate Kzinti forces cutoff following the SB attack in CT7, as well as getting the Fed warmed up. This means picking off a few units here and there, but avoiding most fights, and not pulling reserves forward.

AT7 is Complete
Total losses were light:
L: FF, 2xPol, Colony under construction
K: D7C, 3xE4 (WIA: D6, 2xAD5, F5E)
F: 2xFF
Status:
Kzinti pushed back to 1401
Hydrans hold onto SB 0215
Feds have lost 2SB, and 6 or so border provinces. Setting up Reserves for CT8.

COALITION TURN 8
The turn is completed. This turn was MUCH quieter than CT7, but still had some fireworks at the Federation 3rd Fleet SB (2211) – which went down. It was the ONLY significant battle. Repairs were the name of the game – 127 EPs worth; resulting in (including new construction and other free strat points) 124 SEQ moving by strategic movement (of which only 2 were paid!). That enabled 7 powerful reserves this turn.
Econ
Klingon Highlights:
-National debt is at 91. Started at 88; I borrowed 3 more during production to complete everything I deemed necessary.
-69.5 EPs in repairs.
-Current B10 status: #1 is at 29, B10#2 is at 7; swarm at 32.
-Full production (including C8).
-Only 1 activation. They can wait. Hard choices given massive repairs.
-MISC: First ships rolling off of MiSYs (2*F5 this turn and last, will have more on C9).
-No WYN trade this turn (hard choices) but did pick up EPs during a BR.
Klingon Eco
Lyran Highlights:
-National debt 52. Started at 50 and borrowed 2 more to accommodate some spending after production.
-57.5 EPs in repairs.
-Full builds, including DN, and TGC.
-MISC: Offmap FF yards now producing – similar to Coalition. Major conversion yard should be working by CT10. Built a battle pod.
Lyran Eco
Romulan Highlights:
Roms got a free neutral planet when the Gorns bungled negotiations with a roll of “6” at Helvetica on the Gorn border.
Romulans convert a WE to PE, buy a survey slot, and convert a SP to FH at 4015 using DIP income.
Romulan Eco
Raids
-Raids in 0114, 2511, 2612, 3310, 3213, 3412, and 3513 succeed.
-Raid in 2310 and 2611 fails.
-Klingon TGB picks up 10 EPs from the WYN
Operational
Overall, I tried to keep things low key after last turn’s brutal events. However, I did decide 3rd Fleet SB at 2211 had to go down this turn. There were some juicy Fed targets reachable in the North and Northwest of Fed space, but Gary did a great job with reserve placement, making it impractical or expensive to do anything other than bring down the SB.
Kzinti Theater:
-No reason to take on the capital, so used main fleets in the area to take planets 1101 and 1802. This kept the Kzinti reserves at bay, so both battles were mere pro-forma (but for a rebellion suppression there was no real violence).
Hydran Theater:
-Completely quiet. I did not attack the Hydran fleet huddled at SB215.
Alliance Reserves
Kzinti Theater:
-Held back – they simply would have been slaughtered.
Hydran Theater:
-Nothing to attack.
Federation Theater:
One reserve only could move with targets in range – the one in 2708 send another 8 ships or so to the SB battle in 2211. The reserve could not save the SB (which sported 150 Klingon SEQ), but it did increase the butcher bill a bit.
Combat Phase

As mentioned, 2211 was the sole combat.
Tale of the Tape:
Klingon KIA: 2*D6M, 2*SAF
Klingon WIA: 2*D6M (shocked), D6, 3*D5, 16*F5, D7V, AD5, F5E
Lyran KIA: None
Lyran WIA: None
Federation KIA: SB, 2*CL, FF, FFS, SAV, FHL
Federation WIA: DN, 2*CA, 2*NCL, DD, 6*FF, CVS, FFE
The interesting this about this battle is the SIDS procedure. I used 2*SAF – both disrupted, but one rolled a 6 and the other rolled a 1, netting 2*SIDS. In a later round Gary took 4*SIDS to satisfy damage. I then used maulers and 2 rounds to score 2 more SIDS and cripple the SB. After that, Gary left, not willing to risk losing a bunch of ship kills on retreat if I could one-shot the SB on a future round. Thus, the butcher bill ended up being substantially cheaper than it otherwise would have been (for both sides).
End of Turn
This turn I had an overabundance of units moving by strategic movement. So I have 7 powerful reserves.
2 Klingon reserves in 1807.
1 Klingon reserve in 1910.
1 Klingon reserve in 2214.
1 Lyran reserve in 1807.
2 Lyran reserves in 1506.
No reserves in Hydran space.
There are roughly 240 Coalition SEQ (mostly Klingon) that can reach Federation targets.
I sent some heavy units (non-reserve) to 617 to replace losses so I can sustain another SB assault there (theoretically).
In the ZTO, I have 51 Lyrans on SB1403, 22 Klingons on 1504, 33 Klingons on 1802, and 10 Klingons in 1506 (in addition to the 26 Lyran reserves).
Over to Gary for AT8!!!

Objective across all fronts is to go where Coalition isn't. Kzinti are still recovering their fleet, Hydrans need their new shipyard, and Feds are gearing up -- so not looking for too many fights this turn.
