CT6 Combat Continues...
-----------------------

The Coalition has retreated from 1401 after destroying the starbase to preserve the fleet for this turn (and in the sure knowledge that the Alliance will prefer defending SB1704 to fighting in open space over the shipyard on CT7).

Combat is complete on CT6.

The Starbases in 1401 and 0716 are gone, but the Coaliltion retreated from 1401 because they need active ships on CT7 (and the Kzinti can't keep ships in the Capital CT7 and still defend their active Starbases). Advancing a turn of production 6 turns is a small price to pay for actually getting to effectively defend FRDs and invade the Federation.

Coalition Turn 6 is over
------------------------
The Coalition retrogrades to 1407 in the North and 0914 in the South, and moves new construction to 1407 (Lyrans) and 2416 (Klingons). The Lyran new construction is set as a couple of reserves. There are no reserves on the Hydran front, but there are no real targets for the Hydrans anyway other than province raiders.

Over to AT6.

Alliance Turn 6 Raids
---------------------
The Kzinti raid Klingon hex 0906 and Lyran hex 0705, against POL opposition. The Hydrans raid an E4 (which maybe reacted on) in 0415 and a Klingon province where the BATS was cleared (1214.)

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Monday, June 06, 2022 - 06:45 pm: Edit

Alliance Turn 6 Edits
---------------------

The Kzinti forgot to pay for DBB, and therefore give up one FF build and .7 EPs and pay their 3.2 EP DBB tab from the capital. The Kzinti also used their CP last turn and have none left.

The Hydrans didn't pay enough for the RN, so when I noticed this and added the right numbers in they forego an HN repair in the Old Colonies to make the RN build work.

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 - 08:58 pm: Edit

The Kzinti successfully disrupt 0705 and 0906 against abstract POL opposition.

The Hydrans face 2xE4 vs. THR in 0415 and an abstract POL v. THR in 1214.

Against the POL in 1214, the Hydrans roll way up and blast the poor thing to oblivion without incident.

Against the twin E4's in 0415, the Hydrans roll up, the Klingons roll down, and both E4's are destroyed.

Overall the SSC rolls favored the Alliance heavily.

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 - 09:57 pm: Edit

Alliance Operational Movement, Turn 6.

The Kzinti send a few ships to take out the pickets in the far East, and then attack 1105 and 1504 in force. They carefully avoid attacking anything that would allow the Coalition to bring anything forward other than reserves, so that the vast majority of Coalition forces are seven hexes away from 1802 in 1407 (so that the rear Starbase need not be heavily defended.)

The Hydrans move into Province 0411, get reacted on by four ships, and move a decent fleet to reinforce. The Lyrans choose to remain on their Starbase, so the Hydrans leave the fleet, put a couple of Hunters in 0112, attack the Eastern province raiders (F5L,F5,2xE4) which all react into 1017 when it is attacked, and then get fancy and send a CU to capture NZ hexes 1215 and 1316 (from the retreated Starbase defense squad in 0717). When BATS fighters react out, this is reinforced by GRV, DE.

Pending reserves, not a lot of real combat:

0314 (Four Lyrans getting pounced on by a Hydran fleet)
0316 (a province raider getting hit by 5 Hydrans)
0702 (Seven Kzinti against CW,DD)
0803 (Five Kzinti against CW,D5)
1001 (Five Kzinti against CW,DD)
1017 (A bunch of trashy but numerically superior Hydrans against F5L, F5, 2xE4)
1105 (A strong Kzinti fleet of forty-some ships against five Klingons/Lyrans, in range of about 33 more in reserves)
1504 (A strong Kzinti fleet including all the Auxes bouncing off a planet to get to 1704/1802; something over seventy ships and as many fighters against D6,E4 pending reserves.)

Combat on AT6
-------------
0313 - Lyrans give an FF and retreat
0316 - Hydrans kill an E4
1017 - Hydrans kill e4, Klingons retreat northeast.
1316 - Trade fighters, both sides retreat (I missed this above).
0702 - Lyrans give DD, retreat
0803 - Klingons give F5, retreat
1001 - Lyrans give DD, retreat
1105 - Coalition gives E4, retreats
1504 - Declined Approach, Coalition retreats

Not a lot of action!

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Saturday, June 25, 2022 - 04:25 pm: Edit

Alliance Turn 6 is over.

The Hydrans have two big reserves, and their entire fleet except a couple of ships in the off map area for repair, in the capital. The Kzinti have two small reserves off map, about fifteen ships in 1202, a fleet designed to hold off the Coalition in 1505 in 1802, and the rest of the fleet in 1704.

The Federation designated a reserve each, since they can, in 2204, 2211, and the Capital.

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Monday, June 27, 2022 - 01:58 pm: Edit

Coalition Turn 7 has begun! The Coalition has a bit of a repair backlog, but it will take a turn to get it all where it needs to go for repair, so the bill isn't too high - this turn - although the pain is coming.

Coming into CT7, the Coalition has not taken a capital, but the Kzinti capital is literally an open goal (there are no PDUs, no bases, and no ships in the capital). Instead, the Kzinti are on 1202 (which still has a lone PDU) with about fifteen ships, and otherwise are all in the Marquis area except for two small reserves off map. So the Kzinti capital will fall this turn; the Kzinti have evacuated and are not going to fight in open space.

On the Hydran front, the Coalition has destroyed every starbase except the one floating above the Shipyard, but hasn't come into the capital to play yet. It seems likely they will, as the Hydrans have been building (nearly) full schedules, and that needs to stop. However, Hydrax is up to 17 PDU; it may not be feasible to take the Capital for a while.

Econs next.

Coalition Turn 7 Operational Movement
-------------------------------------

The invasion of the Federation has commenced, and IWR 1 is active.

The Klingons attack SB 2915, Arcturus, and some border BATS, but mostly leave the Feds alone, just taking low hanging fruit. The entire Northern Coalition joint forces, less some ships going to raid provinces (~15 ships), 1202 (~24 ships) and the Capital (~30 ships), are attacking SB1704, with more than enough force to SIDS down the base.

In Hydran space, the Coalition occupy provinces, the fleet in 0411 goes to 0416, and the main fleet of Klingons goes to 0617, where it will probably do some damage (but did not pin the two reserves).

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 - 11:59 pm: Edit

Coalition Turn 7, Operational and Reserve movement
--------------------------------------------------
Combat hexes include:
0114, where four fluffy Lyrans are attacking two Hunter province raiders.
0416, where the Lyran fleet from 0411 is moving into range of the capital against no defense (except an RDF)
0617, where about 150 SEQ of Coalition are facing about 140 SEQ of Hydrans plus most of the Hydran fixed defenses. This isn't the turn the Coalition takes the Hydran capital, but there is nothing stopping them from devastating some planets if they are willing to pay for it, and they have plenty of repair facilities in range.
1001, where a Lyran CW is taking the undefended planet.
1105, where several small Coalition are taking an undefended planet.
1202, where the Kzinti are fighting tooth and nail, including both small reserves, to keep their last PDU. The Klingons have 25 ships including some fighters and the Kzinti probably have an extra five ships. Certainly the Kzinti have the edge, but there isn't anything stopping the Klingons from fighting.
1502, where two Klingons are taking an undefended planet.
1504, where two Klingons are taking an undefended planet.
1704, where approximately 140 Coalition are facing the bulk of the Kzinti fleet (115 ships plus lots of fighters, and including the remaining auxes.)
2006, where the Federation reserve from 2204 is ambushing a BATS busting group of six ships.
2208, where a BATS busting group is going to bust a BATS.
2615, where a BATS busting group is going to bust a BATS.
2715, where the Federation reserve from 2211 is going to ambush the Klingon occupation force and save the planet.
2915, where the Klingons will undoubtedly destroy a poorly defended Starbase.

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Sunday, July 03, 2022 - 03:06 am: Edit

Combat is ongoing...

The Kzinti shipyard was occupied and destroyed with no opposition, as the Kzinti reserves defended Planet 1202. The only combat hex remaining is 1704, where a fairly brutal engagement has resulted in the destruction of both Kzinti scout tugs, multiple 10+ EP Coalition ships, and the Kzinti have lost half their fighters (and won't have more than the Coalition much longer if this keeps up.)

In Fed space, reserves saved BATS 2008 and Acturus, but the Klingons destroyed BATS 2010, BATS 2615, and SB 2915 for fighters and a few cripples.

In Hydran space, the Coalition reoccupied a bunch of space, and, in the Capital, killed some PDUS and devastated a planet before deciding enough was enough and bailing on the exercise.

Combat continues...

By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Sunday, July 03, 2022 - 06:34 pm: Edit

Combat is over on CT7
---------------------

The Kzinti were pushed off Starbase 1704. Maybe resolutely dropping damage would have saved it, but the Kzinti remained true to form and directed the most important ship they could get at 2:1 every time, rather than making an all out effort to save the base. The casualties, for which see below, were drastic, and the Kzinti lost the Auxes after the fleet retreated, but everyone got what they wanted:

For the Coalition, they get to say that their turn 7 offensive was a success. They killed two Starbases, and won every important fight (unless you really like planet 1202).

For the Alliance, they once again killed a lot of expensive ships, keeping the Coalition fleets short of CR10 (and 9!) ships and unable to make huge several-DN type lines or use maulers outside major engagements.

Of course, the big ships keep getting built, and the Alliance has other hardpoints.

This was an incredibly bloody turn, especially for maulers, and it will be a couple turns before the Coalition can put so many of them up again, as they probably lost more than half their stock. The dice were not a factor; the Coalition rolled an average of 3.39 and the Alliance, 3.45, and that includes three 1's from the Coalition in Hydran space. Over SB 1704, the averages were 3.21 for the Coalition and 3.36 for the Alliance, with one autokill each way.

We missed a combat Hex! In 0113, the Lyrans kill an HN and the remaining HN retreats into the (formerly) neutral zone. So add (HN) to the Hydran ships killed.

Coalition Turn 7 is over
------------------------

Map as of the beginning of Alliance Turn 7

The Coalition has retrograded, stratted (including bringing an FRD from the Hydran front to cripples that need it in 1407.), and assigned reserves.

In the North, after consideration given to holding on to 1704, the Klingons retreat to 1506, where they can reach 1802 (though not 2204!) and also avoid letting anything into the FRD park in 1407. The Coalition has a lot of ships scattered around including some cripple(s) on every available BATS north of the Klingon Capital. More cripples from CT6 are in 1411.

In the South, the Coalition has finally put the Lyran and Klingon fleets together (as the Alliance failed to keep a fleet within 6 of 0411) in 0914.

On the Federation front, the Klingons back off; losing more ships to disrupt - rather than control - provinces didn't seem like a thing.

On to AT7!

With no shipyard, the Kzinti build two ships at their two SBs and convert two more in the same locations. They actually have several provinces on map, but are not able to actually do anything with the money (next turn the cripples from 1704 will be off map, so don't worry that they will feel wealthy.) The (-4.8 under repairs is actually the DBB from CT7).

AT7 Hydran Econ
---------------

The Hydrans return to earth having burned all their FFF on the Iron Chancellor, and just churn out FFs. They find EPs for a couple of escorts and a Tug (which will get one of the as-yet-unused battle pods)

AT7 Federation Economy
----------------------

The Federation is very busy, converting masses of old DD's into DE's and trying to get a carrier fleet put together all at once. They convert a 4 point scout or two (using mothball CL's), substitute another, and buy another Scout Pallet, adding a total of four 4-point scouting platforms. In addition, they buy the 2nd E2C SWAC. I don't know how good SWAC's are, but they look like force (well, EW) multipliers.

After transferring 15 EP to the Kzinti (which will happen via Strat later in the turn), they even hold on to a very nice little nest egg.

Of course, that's because their production schedule is that of a minor empire right not, but I daresay we'll fix that in time...

Your CLV carriers are going to cost you another 8 EPs. You need to pay for 12 fighter factors for them. 12-8=4. 4*2 = 8.

Also if you have enough APTs and PTRs between the Feds and Kzintis you should be using them to transfer EPs at the rate of 1 per ship. They do not use any strategic movement for either empire.
