Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board: Prime Directive RPG: NEW EMPIRE BOOKS: RPG FEDERATION: Federation Background: Archive through January 27, 2010

Tom, I am leaving at 9:00 pm on Christmas day to ride the bus to Amarillo. I'll get there on Sunday. On Monday(and the following week) I will be devoting my time to editing PD Feds (the basic text across the "flavors"). On Monday, SVC will be devoting his time to writing his part of PD Feds so I can edit it. (If he does not, I have permission from Leanna to beat him about the head and shoulders.)

That should give Gary the info he needs to do his GURPS stuff and that will form the basis of what has to be done for PD20M. I expect PD20M will probably get on the shelves first simply because SJ Games has to approve the GURPS product and we can approve the PD20M from within.

So barring health issues and unforeseen events (I am NOT eating at KFC and haven't since The Incident), I'm thinking first half of 2010.

Does that help?

Three words: Go Jean Go!

Jean, if you do have to beat SVC around the head and shoulders, I recommend a light bamboo cane. A Griswold is too likely to cause concussion and fractures, which would be counterproductive. It is also much easier on your own wrists.

Terry, "Gibbsing" is what he will get if he is terrible. I think he has forgotten (it has been a year, after all) how absolutely wonderful a team Leanna and I make!

All right I keep hearing about "Gibbsing", what is this?

{SMACK UPSIDE THE HEAD!}

Any questions?

For folks who watch NCIS, this is what some call the admonishing smack delivered to the back of the head (usually administered by the team leader, Gibbs).

Ahh TV, I have at least heard of that.

Web Mom just uses a #8 Griswold cast iron skillet to deliver her Gibbsings.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Thursday, December 24, 2009 - 08:33 am: Edit

(giggle) Not when I have to Gibbs the boss in person, I don't! Then I usually need him functional quickly, so it is not efficient to use cast iron on him.

I seem to recall a Captain's Log article for PD that included some Odd Weapon Designs of the Federation. I can't find it right now. Anyone know where it is?

The only weapon I could recall of the top of my head is a shoulder mounted Tribble Launcher, if that helps any.

My kids all gottogether and made reservations at mine and Evey's favorite restuarant (and kicked in a sustantial giftcard), so we're headed out and I don't have time to actually track this down...

But it has to be in one of two places:
Stellar Shadows Journal #1 (a magazine similar to CL)
Stellar Shadows Journal #2 (also known as CL 27 or 28)

Thank you Mr. Thomas. It was Captain's Log 28. Oddly it only had two weapons, I thought it was more. But then again I just got my PD stuff so I just glossed over the stuff before.

Hope you had a pleasant night, and merry Christmas.

And SVC has made a new play aid with the Federation enlisted ranks: http://www.starfleetgames.com/documents/Fed_Enlisted_Ranks.pdf

Thanks!

When can we get a mini for it???

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 - 12:20 pm: Edit

Probably just after Prime Directive Charecter Figures.

Cool drawing Loren!

That would be fun to sculpt.

Looks like something form Steve Jackson's OGREverse. That's why I like it. :)

Tank or GCV? Looks like it could fit a squad in there, maybe have an exit in the back for a quick marine assault. Either way, looks like trouble for the Klinks.

Must say cool. Thanks to LSK for drawing it and SVC for sharing it.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 - 10:45 pm: Edit

Thanks everyone. I designed that tank back in 2004. That's a long time to wonder if anyone would like it. I do enjoy this kind of thing and love being apart of the Prime Directive team.

I've only ever seen one thing from OGRE and that's the GEV game cover. I really try to think ST:TOS, Fanz Joseph, and Matt Jefferies when I design stuff. Matt was a designer way ahead of his time and I think his designs still stand strong even today. Sure, some of the implementation of those designs were dated, but the overall construction was inspired.
This tank also owes some of its form to todays M1 main battle tank; a truely awe inspiring vehicle in any century.

Loren -

OGRE's tend to have little ball-mounted anti-personnel batteries, which is one visual similarity. In your case, it was just form following function as it so often does.
