Something that one fiction author (and presumably others) would like to see published some place, even if only posted to the BBS, is a list of typical / common names for various races such as Andorian, Tellarites, Vulcans, etc. Something that players (and fiction authors) can use to help them pick names for characters.

Another update, the list is getting a lot bigger, but of course, the only thing after CL16 is the CL45 file from Lar.

Yeah and I have more to do on that yet...likely this weekend. Ended up working an extra day this week so have not gotten back in there to wrap up.

The procedure is this:

1. Email me saying you want to do it.

2. Send me (could be part of #1) a sample excel file with three entries. My Mac won't read a lot of excel files. If it works, you're added to the team.

3. You come here and post the name of the product you want to do. That gives you "ownership" of that product for two weeks. (You only get to own one product at a time, but you don't have to wait for me to say "ok, you can do X".)

4. Send me the complete file.

Return to step 3 and repeat as often as you like.

A few notes

First column is LAST COMMA FIRST name.

Titles, ranks, jobs, all go in biography, not name.

Do not try to match colors. I'll handle that here quite easily.

Avoid abbreviations. Lieutenant, not LT.

YOu can italicize ship names but you don't have to.

Year not known, leave blank.
Sex not known, leave blank.
Species not known, put "unknown"

I just made a first pass at the SFB Omega Master Rulebook. I don't claim "ownership" of that file, however; if anyone else wants to dig through it to see what I may have missed, fair enough.

Actually, I didn't spot the "one file at a time" note above while I was doing the list, so ended up plucking certain non-Alpha names out of E2, C5, and CL43. Sorry. But again, I am not looking for "ownership" of those files, nor for any bars or wall of honor notes or anything. If someone else wants to "own" CL43, well and good.

A few quick notes....

1. I filled in most of the dates, but some are missing.

2. I have yet to fill in the gender column and since that's either "just a guess" or "doing a bunch of checking" I don't see it as a priority.

3. There are zillions of "format mismatches" in their, lost punctuation, italicization, capitalization, and whatever else. I'm not going to fix them any time soon, so don't report them unless they're ghastly wrong for some reason. This is a free service and the data is just a valid whether it has the right format/punctuation or not, so it's not worth my time (which needs to be spent on other products). Someday, after Jean gets a bunch of RPG books done and Tribbles makes us a million dollars, I promised Jean I'd go on vacation with Leanna and she could spent entire days editing the list. Until then, hold your thoughts on spelling/capitalization/italicization/punctuation.

I HAVE FINISHED converting the old (CL1-16) index into excel. This list includes the old list, plus some stuff from Gary, Lar, and myself.
