Just modified the Emergency Bridge design. Again, the old is on the left and new on the right. I got rid of those weird little cuts in the front corners. They were there to allow for a bit of shoulder / elbow room at you enter the door in the next compartment. I allowed for at least 25-cm (10") on either side of any door. This was the only one that has 12.5-cm (5") on one side. I did try to change it, but that pushed other tings around and messed them up.
I also threw a square bridge design together, but honestly I'm not at all happy with out this one turned out. If both people in the corner push their chairs back at the same time, they'll collide. So, it's back to the round bridge. I'll see if I can pretty that up a little more.

Moving on to Main Engineering. The old version had six individual control stations. I replaced them with a single long (9-meters) control panel with six chairs.
I still need to figure out what to do with Phaser / Photon control stations, as well as Transporter and other such units.

No idea how interested anyone is in these progress reports, but I just created new icons for the Phaser Control stations. Not too bad, I think. I went back on forth on whether to put the center bump between the chairs. I used the same icon for the Photon Torpedo room, although I'm of half a mind to edit it some.

In addition to the Callahan-class Cutter, I also created the two decks of the earlier Masterson-class Cutter with the most significant differences (Desks One & Three). Before adopting the Burke-style FFG round bridge, the Masterson's bridge was rectangular.
I just need to design two more icons (single & dual standing control stations, for Transporter and such). With any luck, I should be able to PDF the deck plans and e-mail them down to ADB tonight or tomorrow morning.

Cool

Thanks, Gregory.
Last night, I spent about half and hour building a transporter control station. When I put it in place of the old version, I found out I screwed up someplace on the calculations. It was huge, almost twice as big as it should have been. So I spent another half-hour or more trying to edit it down. Finally, I gave up and started from scratch.
This is what I came up with. I added some people to give a sense of scale, but they won't be on the final published version.
I do need to make a second version without all the detail work. That part's easy: break the symbol, delete the tiny bits, save the symbol. Ta-da! Shouldn't take more that a minute or two.

I just tried to place the control station in the second (aft-hull) Transporter and ran into a bit of an issue. Because of the center doorway that leads to the corridor to the cargo lifts and gym, I couldn't put the station on the center line. I tried to put it to the side, but it's too long to fit well. Ergo, I ended up cutting it in half and making it two separate (redundant) control units. Here's the result. I think this works as well as anything.

Only thing I can think of is to just jam it in one corner, replacing a cabinet set and moving that door closer to the other door for spacing ...

Thanks, Stewart. I played around with it a little and came up with this alternative layout. I know that's not exactly what you had in mind, but I didn't want to screw up the symmetry.

It is what it is, though to be fair, I only recall Scotty using the three sliders on the left side on the control station (which would be on the right station) ...

I just ripped out two pairs of one-plus-one enlisted quarters and converted them to two sets of married couple's quarters. I didn't change the total size of the rooms; they fit in the same footprint.
Also, I redid the icons for computer terminals & office desks. I was using icons for actual keyboards with individual keys/buttons. Again, the problem was that turned into a blob even at a medium scale printing. I'm hoping this design looks at least okay when printed.
By the way, if when you click on the link it takes you to the image in an Imgur window, just add dot-gif on the end of the URL to take you to the image itself.

Did you know that the ST:TOS bridge is not round? As in, it's not a circle, but rather a 10-sided decagon.
I found a minor glitch in my bridge design (it was off-center in the box), and in trying to fix it, I found my circular walls were not a true circle. I went back to the source material (Franz Joseph, of course) and noticed that the original was not a circle.
I played around with different polygons to see if one might work better than a true circle. (Actually, my program doesn't make true circles; it makes 32-sided triacontadigons instead.)
An octagon would have worked but just didn't look/feel right. A decagon wouldn't work; it needs to be a multiple of four. I tried a 12-sided dodecagon, which was 'better' but still not quite right. I figured I had one last option before giving up and going back to a circle. The final option was the 16-sided hexadecagon. Personally, I like how it turned out.
I'm left with two unanswered questions.
First, what do I put in the voids at each corner?? Life support systems? Computers? Shock absorbers? Log buoys? Moonshine still?? Nothing, leave it a void?? They're not big enough to put a sink & 'throne' in them (yes, I tried it).
Second question: In the crew roster I have five people with full-time jobs on the bridge: Command Chair, Helm, Navigation, Communications, and Sensors. There are eleven seats on the Bridge (ditto for Emergency Bridge and Aux Con), so who sits at the other six duty stations, even if only during Red Alert and such??

How about Dam Con supplies?

One, not big enough; two, I already have Damage Control Lockers to cover that. Thanks for the suggestion, tho.

IIRC, the stations on the side of the turbolift opposite Communications are Engineering (where Scotty would be or Lt. Leslie in episodes where Scotty is down in engineering itself), Engineering Subsystems (Chekov used this station to check the H27 and G95 subsystems in The Ultimate Computer), and Environmental Control.

I just updated the Labs, replacing the control stations with new designs.
Old astrophysics lab -vs- New astrophysics lab (11x11 meters).
Old forensics lab -vs - New forensics lab (11x10 meters).
I thought about putting instruments (microscopes, etc) and the evidence exam tables in the Forensics Lab but decided it would look too cluttered. Also, I'd have to invent the icons because their not in my programs symbols library.
Questions & comments welcome.

I figured out what to do with part of the void behind the aft hull's front facade: I put a pair of log buoys in there, two on each side of the ship. I'm thinking one will launch straight out to the side, and the other will shoot up at a 60-deg angle. These are in addition to the flight data recorder aka Black Box that's built into the ship.

Oh, I came up with a reason why the aft Transporter room has a pair of control stations. That's the room with the T-bombs, so you need a two-man authentication to beam the mine out, like needing two keys to launch nuclear missiles.
If the controls were on a single console, one person might be able to beam a T-bomb out. By splitting the controls, that's impossible (unless you're an alien with Stretch Armstrong reach).

Is THIS something you all would want to see made available someday, or am I wasting my time on it?????
Obviously, that's a cropped sample; the "real" project would be all eight Decks plus the Refit modifications done up fully color-coded like that.

I can't find a more-appropriate place to put this, so I'm muddying up the Police Cutter deckplans thread -
I thought that the deckplans for the Federation frigate included a view showing an extended, underslung, shuttlebay for the FFV and FLG police flahship variants (much as the drawings have a view for the alternate use of the photon torpedo compartment for variants that don't use them).
I just checked my copy of GURPS PD and, nope, not in that printing. I also checked the earlier, smaller-size printing in Captain's Log #27 - not there either.
Am I remembering wrong? I would have sworn I saw that drawing.
I'm also not finding the fluff text description of that same extended bay that I would have sworn I'd read (at least not in the Fed MSSB descriptions for the FFV and FLG).

Patrick Dillman set me straight. The expanded version of the deck plans with more views (including that one) is in GURPS Module Prime Alpha.

I met Matt Johnson yesterday for a local gaming group. He got my name / email from the FedCmdr board and invited me to play a demo Federation Commander scenario. (We ended up playing WW2 tank battles instead. Still had fun, tho.)
Mr. Johnson is a retired US Navy Commander (O-5) and former submariner, so I took my POL deck plans to show him. I spread them out on the table and explained all the features and details. Afterwards, I asked him if I missed anything or otherwise did something that should be changed. He told me, no, everything looked amazing. And then he said, "These look like something that a naval architecture designer would have drafted."
I took that as very high praise. Thank you, kind sir.

So, yeah, I haven't had time to do anything with this project. I'm still in upgrade / certification training for work, which is taking a lot of time and effort and brain power.
The thing I want to do now is replace certain symbols / icons with simpler designs. For example, the chairs have a shallow curve along the front. Looks great on the screen in the native program (Floor Plan Plus) but once it's exported to TIFF or PDF, these sometimes get a little muddy. Ditto when printed out.
I did make a new chair icon, but Dear Lord do you have any idea how many chairs this thing has?? I'll be going delete-copy-paste-align for a whole week just to replace all the chair icons. And then I need to create a new icon for sinks and "thrones" and replace all of those. I already replaced all the computer terminals / keyboards with new icons. That was a lot of fun.
In the meantime, here's a couple images for you to comment on:
This image compares the original Sickbay design that I created 12 years ago or so, with the revised version I made two or three years ago. The new one is still not "perfect" but I think it's far better than the old one. If there's one major flaw, I think that it's in that the Doctor can't easily move from one trauma surgery to the other quickly. Neither one had a lot of storage space for larger equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
This image compares the Security / Brig section to a version I created last year for the early prototype ships. I wanted to show a change in design between the first several ships and the production version, so I went back and drafted a "flawed" Brig section. Improvements include individual cells (with four more bunks), to prevent prisoners from colluding escape plans; an extra wall/door to prevent them from making a run for the stairs; and secure interview rooms. This did come at the cost of giving up two 4-man offices (where Tac-Team members write reports and whatever while not posted on guard duty) and the storage rooms. They'll have to keep evidence in lockers in the Forensics Lab.
