1. When guarding a ship with your Aegis-equipped escort ship (see rule (3F) in Hydran Attack) the best place for the escort is two hexes closer to and directly between the protected ship and the incoming drone wave(s). As the drones pass over or near the escort, it can use its facing phasers on the drones. The surviving drones will fly past and impact the protected ship, but the escort can then use the phasers on the other side to shoot the impacted drones. This is also a good position for the use of tractor beams and ESGs. The enemy may attack your escort with direct-fire weapons, but it's a bodyguard's fate to stop a bullet.
2. Shuttles can be quite vulnerable to drones, especially if the drone impacts in the rear arc where few have weapons. The rules treat shuttles as "ships" for most purposes, which means an escort can protect fighters as they return to the carrier for reloading. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue
