Can an Andromedan ship fire a probe from its probe launcher in information mode (5C3) even if the scenario gives it no reason to do so? (The point, of course, being to burn two points of power.) It's not explicitly prohibited, but that seems to be simply because you usually have no reason to fire a probe unless you need lab information. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue

If you can tractor a "space rock", I can see no reason you can't get information on it first. So, yes. _________________

Then I would think you could transport stuff into space without a target and burn the 1 point of power for it too.
If you want to get rid of power then you could max out your suicide shuttles and launch them. |

I don't have W&P yet, but do Andros even get shuttles? In SFB they don't... _________________

That's fine. And don't forget that it isn't necessarily 1 point of power. It is equivalent to one acceleration.

You could definitely do that if you actually had any shuttles. _________________

Actually, don't seeking weapons require valid targets to launch (target in the weapon's FA arc, within 25 hexes, etc)?

yes, but Andros have no seeking weapons so it's moot. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue
