Hi.

Do the rules covering Paravian ships in the Early Years setting account for the reduced turn modes such ships suffer when they lose their port and/or standard warp engines?

Also, how are the NWO boxes on many Paravian ship classes handled in FC?

(In the case of the latter, I wonder if it would be an option to allow the Paravian player to choose the non-barracks options shown on the SFB SSDs, instead of simply allocating a 'vanilla' set of options for each ship class.)

I will have to double-check the rules to see if the turn mode thing was included or not. I doubt it, as that is the kind of fiddly stuff that usually gets dropped.

On the NWO boxes, that is up to Steve. When he makes the Paravian ship card for the FC-EY sampler pack, we will find out what he wants to do. I would bet on a single configuration, as the HDW examples that have been done don't use variable boxes, either.

And, no, there as of yet no Paravians in Federation Commander. We do have the "Project Y" rules for the quantum wave torpedoes that are in one of the CL-Supplementals (39 I think), but no Paravian ship cards. That all said, Steve is, in his copious spare time*, working on creating an "Early Years sampler pack" for e23 that will include a Paravian cruiser. (The likely lineup is the nine ship cards already done, plus a Paravian YCL, Carnivon YCA, and ISC YCL.)

[*] Yes, that is an attempt at humor.

I would say that the turn mode thing is something I'd like to see retained for FC; similar to how I'm hoping to retain the turn mode dynamic the Probr have with their wing engines over in Omega.

(Or how the M81 Pirates have twin Move Cost listings, albeit for a different reason.)

Speaking of Paravian weapons, are there trial rules for the Quantum Cannon, or will it be assumed their Y-ships would have QWTs only?

I don't remember. I am at work, and would have to look at CL39S again to check.

The only rule needed for the EY Pack, though, will be the QWT rules, as the only Paravian ship in it will be the YCL.
