I still am not sure about this. My interest in Omega is to have more choices for fun play, including campaigns, or duels. Choice is a good thing. I was wondering about how Omega and Alpha ships match up.
I would assume that PV is generic, and that a 100 point Alpha ship is roughly equal to a 100 point Omega ship, right?
Also, does PV match between eras: is a 100 point ship from base FC and a 100 point Middle Years ship a match? Or is each PV only valid in its particular milieu? I know the MY ship has less advantages (slow drones, etc) so i would expect an MY 100 pointer to big a bigger ship.
Thanks for the clarity. |

By and large, the Omega ships in print are 'middle years' designs; the later 'war' classes have yet to be published.
I'd suggest going by class when comparing to Middle Years Alpha ships, and by point value when dealing with Main Era Alpha, M81 Galaxy and Andromedan ships. _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

So, it would be a relatively balanced fight to pit a Maesron CA and DD (total 200 points) against a Fed BCJ (also 200)?
Thanks again for helping. My brain works slow. LOL |

I am going to try it, definatly. My group plays lots of non-historical stuff, and campaigns, so more choice is what we like.
If I see anything that is a problem between them, I'll tell you. Maybe you could make a small page of adjustments for such a thing.
Thanks |

There's already some errata in the feedback thread; feel free to add your own there, if and when it pops up.
And good luck! _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

It's admittedly been quite a awhile since I've played SFB, let alone the Omega. I was engaged in some of the initial playtesting of Omega and liked the theme quite a bit. However, Omega ships seemed to offer a slightly different paradigm with both lower speeds (due to power shortages) and slightly lower weapons yields which made them relatively poor match ups against Alpha quadrant ships.
I am very tempted to believe that BPV of Omega ships is not well comparisoned against Alpha ships at the same levels. However, they play fairly well against each other.
The improved power curve of FC ships in general will certainly help the Omegas. However, I'd like so see some significant playtesting to see how the BPV's balance against Alpha in FC. _________________ "Damn the torpedoes, full spe........[squarrk]" |
