"We have broken off and out of weapon's range."

Commander Krege threw his datapad at the head of the tactical officer. He took a moment to clinch his singed hand and fume more. Silently he cursed Commodore Felke. Only hours before his approach on the unknown system the commodore ordered the other F5 away on an urgent recovery mission. They had suspected the Gorn had returned in force, and now was the proof.

'Increase speed to Warp 5, and report when we have made full damage recovery".

His own mission would have to wait.

On that note, tension along the border has increased by 5 due to the skirmish between the Klingons and Gorn.

Overall Objectives

Economic Development
System Hex Raw Materials:
The player will receive VP based on his overall resource wealth, earning 1 VP for (SQRT of Total Raw Materials in Player’s Empire).

Control
Minor Engagements:
We feel that if we draw the enemy in to a few starship duels, we can defeat, and intimidate them piecemeal. Each one-on-one starship battle won by the player is worth 1 VP.

Minor Objective(s):
We must take one additional ground unit to the target System Hex, and deploy them for one full Turn. After which, we can begin tracking their movements.

Admiral Grinshk shuffled the reports from Commodore M'Kee. He felt a formal congratulations was in order for the commander and crew of the Fireclaw. Their aggression had paid off, and Grinshk wondered to himself if he had over estimated the strength of the Klingon presence in Ajax. Time would tell what they were up to, but for now he was pleased enough to see Halibut taking on new settlers. It was a wondrous star system and felt it would make an excellent outpost on the frontier.

He had another meeting with his fellow admirals and representatives from the government soon. He also had an intelligence briefing with him that would ensure more work in Ajax.

I am sure the commodore will be pleased, he thought to himself. He knew what high esteem the commodore had for the civilian planners who worked with the admiralty.

Ajax System; Klingon Space....

Commodore Felke sat and wondered how to deal with Commander Krege. He was a feisty starship commander and came highly recommend. He was considered by many to be a rising star in the Deep Space Force, and that made him dangerous to Felke should things turn out badly in Ajax.

His orders last week could not have been more clear, and Krege's report was unfortunately vague on many important details with the engagement. Felke knew his superiors considered him to be overly cautious and it was probably that reason they had saddled him with so many upstart commanders with a willingness to take initiative and at times, ignore orders. Commodore Felke did not like to be out of control, and managing starships across the vast Ajax Expanse made delegation of responsibility an unfortunate reality.

Back to the work at hand. What was this Gorn opponent up to?

Thank you! I appreciate the response. It is a bit of a smaller campaign, but Dale and I are having a good time. I hope to run a campaign for more players when Federation Admiral is released.

BTW, I have enjoyed your many campaign reports as well Smile .

"By my scales! Get a grip on this situation", spoke the grey Gorn. Admiral Grinshk was surprised to hear such language and outburst from the representative of the Committee on the Preservation for Distinct and Precious Species.

"Other needssss took precedent and that is the reality of the situation. We have considered dealing with this pirate as you suggested but also feel the Commodore's resources are not up to the task.

"But this new colony world has been establisssshed. It will be ten more solar years before we can do these tests on the Pleides Swamp Eagle, and you know as well as I that we believe these to be an offshoot from the Paravian genetic line."

"I am afraid I must postpone this conversation until later. I have more work for our stalwart soldiers on the frontier."

With a hiss, the representative grabbed his datapad and left the room.

Ajax System; Gorn Space....

"Commodore. I am sorry to disturb you. We have an issue."

M'Kee raised his read from his most recent briefing from high command. It was a combination of praise for settling Halibut quickly, and another set of orders he had not finished.

"Continue."

"Well Ssssir. It is the Fireclaw again. She reports contacts in 14, 06, moving slowly. All they can tell from this range is that there appear to be warp signatures from at least one civilian ship, and at least one warship, possibly more. We suspect them to be more Klingons given our recent encounters."

"Orders sir?"

CM Note: Ok, another possible encounter. There is also another minor objective coming along once we get this resolved.

The Commodore frowned, his reptilian features drawing in distrust.

"Thisss will only end in tears," he hissed as if to himself.

"Instruct the Fireclaw to dash to intercept, and bring the Pelsiosaur with her. The unknowns aren't single warships, so we won't need to prove our skill there."

"But instruct the Fireclaw to approach with caution, and hail the unknowns. If they aren't Klingons, they are to attempt peaceful contact. If they can."

"Weeee have a message on an incoming channel, sssir.".

The comm system gurgled for a mounted, and sounded as though a Craissi Lizard was trying to break out of the speakers. The noise faded as quickly as it had materialized.

"This is the freighter Growler on a mission of mercy for the nearby star system. Our sensors show you are attempting to intercept our convoy. Please explain yourself immediately."

LOL, well played Smile . It is times like this I wish I could do more in Photoshop.



But on that note Dale has been dealing with something else so there is an understandable delay. I am just itching to keep playing Smile . As soon as FA is released we can run some more games.

"Oh sssure," the captain of the Fireclaw said to himself. "I've never heard THAT one before." Nodding to his helpful yeoman and gesturing for the comm officer to open a channel, he leaned forward in his chair and addressed the Growler.

"Growler, thisss isss the GCS Fireclaw. Our intensionsss are not hossstile. However we have encountered hostilesss in the area. We are happy to escort your freighter on itsss misssion of mercy, once we have assscertained your identity."

He gestured to his helmsman. "Continue intercept course," he hissed.
