If this has been suggested before then I apologize for doing a poor job of researching it but if I could suggest a new product to sell it would be a Starship Recognition Guide of all the ships in the Fed Commander game system featuring Adam Turners artwork. That guy does amazing work.

It would serve as a companion for those folks that would like to have a better sense of the look and feel of the ships they play and as a painting guide for minis.

I would buy it, I don' know about others. I'm sure publishing it in color would add greatly to the expense, though I'd get it in PDF if it were available.

There were conversations about products called Leanna's Fighting Ships, not sure where that project stands at this point --

It's an idea that's been discussed many times. Some guy was working on it but all he wanted to do was the pictures; he wanted somebody else (us) to do all of the text, which is 90% of the work and we've never had time.

The problem with such a book is that "trekkers" expect info like deadweight tons, crew rosters, size in meters, and we don't have that data, don't have time to make something up, and have a pathological fear that somebody would walk up to us at Origins and say "Leanna's fighting starships says XXXXX so you have to rule in my favor in the tournament...."

Something to consider is this. Ideas for new products are fast and easy. The work to do the new products is hard and slow. Doing Leanna's Fighting Starships, however and whenever it's done, would be a lot of work. So is everything else we could do or might do or should do. Given the announced schedule for Jan-July 2011, there is no way that one second of work would be done on Leanna's Fighting Starships or anything else not on that schedule before Origins. There just isn't time. We're booked up. Full. Totally committed. Decisively engaged. After Origins, we'll consider what to do for Fall 2011 and about christmastime we'll figure out what to do for Jan-Origins 2012, and the comments of players will be THE decisive factor in selecting which is 300 ideas will become the six or so products in that period of time. So telling us how much you like the idea is important, but it's not going to make the product appear right away. It's not like the entire workforce is sitting here, with nothing to do, their fingers poised over the keyboards waiting for the next email or BBS post to say "do this".

Thanks for the response. I'm sure the compendium will be great when it comes out and I'll be the first in line to buy it.

The impetus of my post was from my recent efforts to prep a boatload of minis I recently purchased. While trying to discern what stuff I should clip off, file down, and what position to bend parts back to; I went to your website to find some reference. The most official documents were scanned photocopies of line drawings from the 70's and 80's. Adam's Artwork has been helpful along with pics of other minis. The drawings in (7:Ships) have been helpful too.

I am very glad you all aren't sitting at your computers all day hitting refresh waiting for more awesome ideas from the likes of me Very Happy

Thanks

Monty
