I'm considering playing (8B122) The Lone Grey Wolf solo against a robot Kzinti player; how much do you think I should spot the Kzinti in force advantage (thinking of replacing the C8 Kang with a C7). _________________

Don't spot the Kzinti any force advantage. Just subtract 1 from all the robot die rolls. If you're feeling ambitious, add 1 to all yours, too.

The way you speak of changing the scenario makes me think that you do not know the entire story behind how Kang, in a lone C8 dreadnought, outwitted and out fought the Kzintis in his escape from the deception of their so called truce. It is one of the reasons he was considered to be a Dahar Master. _________________ HoD K'el

He asked how to spot the Kzinti robot force. I interpreted that to mean, "How do I give a bit of an advantage to the robot force (because I know a robot force following certain robot rules would be at a natural disadvantage because there wouldn't be much coherency to its actions)."
My answer was perfectly logical. _________________ Mike

I'm not sure the ship's commanding officer of the Admiral Kang was actually named; the only character mentioned in the SFB version is Count Talos Kren, who was sent to represent the Empire in the planned negotiations.
In any case, there's probably only so much one ought to glean about characters (re-)presented in later Franchise materials based on events portrayed in the SFU... _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

Taking this one at a time...
Mike: It was not directed towards you, but at Wild Card. I think the Kzinti ships do not need 'help', even with the robot rules.
Nerroth: I think you might be right on that. I was thinking Kang was the Commander of the Admiral Kang. I'm going to have to go and re-read this story.

Is there a fiction story from where this scenario is based ? If so in which Captain's Log was it published ? |

I checked my CL back issues and could not find a fiction article about The Lone Gray Wolf. The earliest mention I found of it was as scenario T3.0 in Commander's SFB Volume 3 (1984).
Hope this helps. _________________ Mike

I was not aboard my ship namesake. Such vanity is beneath a great warrior.... _________________

There isn't a fiction story associated with this Mini-Campaign. I think the only "blurb" was the introduction to (T3.0).
Sounds like a gap in the market for an enthusiastic & talented fiction writer! _________________ Nothing is quite as persuasive as a disruptor pistol on slow burn and a rotisserie...... |
