(As everyone knows, "healer" is the preferred term for doctor or medic among he Kriss.)
Captain Jack surveys the scene and covers Marcus and company. He sees nothing threatening or out of the ordinary. Whoever did this has managed to blend into the chaos of the cosmopolitan bustle of the main passageway.
Marcus discovers an ornate, curved dagger in the man's back and immediately goes to work with his med kit. The man is mortally wounded and has lost a tremendous amount of blood... but... there's a chance maybe... just maybe...
The man reaches toward Skexis... he's trying to speak... he opens his mouth and no words come out... then... with great effort... he says, "don't... look...!" Then he collapses into unconsciousness.
[Thanks to Marcus's quick reaction, good equipment, and moderate skill... then man is just barely stable enough to hold on until professional medical help can arrive.] _________________ Jeffro's Space Gaming Blog

Marcus wipes off the ornate dagger and slides it into his belt. He says,"We should get him to a medical facility...I can't do anymore for him. Call a medivac unit." |

"That's quite a dagger. I wonder if we can find someone to tell us something about it, and whether or not it's worth anything." |

[GM ruling: It might cost you having to pay for a few drinks for people, but you have a hunch someone could tell you something-- or at least point you toward someone that could. Alternately, you could try to find an artifact dealer/smuggler to either sell it to or ask about it.]
A medical team shows up to take the man away. It is lead by a Squid-face (a Mantorean.) He thanks Marcus for his efforts.
You don't see any suspicious or threatening people at the scene. No police or judicial types show up-- it appears that bad stuff just ends up happening here and people focus more on cleaning up than in tracking down perpetrators. _________________ Jeffro's Space Gaming Blog

Marcus says,"He is now our Employeer....we should make sure he stays alive! I will volunteer to go with him." He hands Captain Jack the dagger."Zack find out what you can about this and who might be the owner. Call me on the comm or if you find something" He tells the Medical team he is now the mans body guard and demands he stay with him. |

[GM: It sounds like Marcus is dead set on sticking with his new non-Klingon "employer" and is unlikely to be persuaded to do anything else. Skexis and Captain "Zack" have to decide if they will go with him, go back to the tavern and ask about the knife, find an artifact dealer/buyer to find out more about the knife, or else go to the lockbox that Captain Jack has the key for. Jack and Skexis can declare their actions or else try to persuade Marcus away from his current plan-- either way... the story is paused until I know what everyone's choice is....] _________________ Jeffro's Space Gaming Blog

[Okay... Marcus is going to the hospital. Jack is going to the lockbox (unless Skexis or Marcus changes his mind.) Will Skexis accompany Marcus or Jack...? Or will Skexis go somewhere else...? Going once... going twice--] _________________ Jeffro's Space Gaming Blog

I'll go with Jack. We'll deal with the dagger later. |

Marcus manages to hitch a ride along with the EMT-types. He arrives at the medical facility and it isn't long before the man (Marcus's new "employer") is laid out on an operating table with the computer thing that makes the "boing-boing boing-boing" sounds. A human doctor feverishly works over him for a while, then walks past the nearby waiting area where Marcus has camped out. "That's all I can do for him-- we'll just have to see if he can pull through this or not."
Marcus is now alone in the operating room. There are two operating tables and a few chairs. There is also a closet of medical supplies.
...
Meanwhile, [if I understand correctly] Skexis and Captain Jack arrive at the lockbox area. You quickly locate lockbox 9674-A2. What now? _________________ Jeffro's Space Gaming Blog

[Can you describe how you're using the tricorder...? What are you looking for...? How does it work...? What kind of information does it show...? I don't need an essay... but more specific description is necessary....] _________________ Jeffro's Space Gaming Blog

[OOC] You're kidding, right? it's a Tricorder... you know... "Sense, Display, and Analyze bio-signs, physical objects, and energy emissions..." One could assume I'm trying to Sense, Display and Analyze a bio-sign, physical object, and energy emission... [/OOC]
Captain Jack turns on his tricorder, first configured for an energy scan, then he switches it to a physical object scan, trying to determine what is in there, and finally an bio-scan...
[OOC] The thought that is going through Captain Jack's head is that this might be dangerous, a bomb or such, artifact, etc. and he wants to take a scan of the locker before attempting to open it... [/OOC] |

[Okay... that's what I needed. That... or else the coffee hadn't kicked in, yet. GM makes a ruling... and rolls some dice.]
You are certain that there is no explosive device inside the lockbox. You're picking up some unusual life readings though... some kind of hyper-intelligent fungoid lifeform perhaps...? _________________ Jeffro's Space Gaming Blog
