Romulans fighting on both sides? Chuckle. Very Romulan!
We've had a Gorn vs Hydran + Fed battle: Gorn DNH pursued a Ranger away from a planet and a passing Fed FF was in a position to assist the Ranger and did so. Scenario started with with the DNH on the bottom left corner of the map, the FF in the top right and the RN in the centre pointing towards the FF. Turn 1 speed had to be 24 and the 1st four Impulses had to be +1 by all players.
Neither the RN nor the FF survived. That DNH is a beast. Hopefully one of the players will post a more detailed account on here.
The Tholian attacked the BS, did a lot of internals to it, but the Klingon wiped him out, apart from one cripple who crept off. The BS is crippled, so the Klingons can't pursue the remaining Tholian.
That's at least six ships exploded this turn. Aaah. Feel positively post-coital. _________________ Famous last words #11: "That's a very big fleet!" |

here is the line up of the forces for tomorrows battle.
The Klingons invaded the Gorn.
Klingon force
2xC7, 1xD-5w, 1xF-5w, with romulan allies 1xKRC, 1xKR
the Gorn responded with
1xHDN, 1xCC, 1xCS, 2xBC, 3xHDD,2xFF
this should be an interesting battle, the romulan ships are there as 'military exchange ships' and do not ofifcially represent the will of the Romulan Empire. _________________ Creator Empire campaign rules and Code of War (COW)Expansion.

Battle results:
minor damage scored on two gorn ships , the Frigate Shock and the HDD Sword of Sardith. the Romulan KR Legion of steel took about 15 internals. the klinong romulan fleet fought a good action against an overwhleming Gorn Fleet.
The Klingo-Rom squadron advanced to about 10 hexes in on the first turn, the Gorns sat pretty much on one position to see what would transpire. Next turn the gorns accelerated woth the idea of closing on the klingo-Rom fleet and laying waste with torps.
the Klingo-Rom fleet moved backwards yes in revers keeping thier forawrd arcs to the Gorn fleet as they moved to the edge of the map the idea of hitting as many gorns possible before moving to safety.
The klingon-rom fleet strategy was to work like hunters and try to just kill one ship any ship would do, and then leave. the Gorn wanted to just crush them with superior ship numbers and weapons.
in short no casualties, the klingons and Romulans withdrew, but I have to say they fought very well, the forced one gorn ship to disengage due to damage, and forced anohter HDD out of formation, and stripped the shields off of the gorn CC.

As our resident Organian noted Gorn DNH vs Hydran Ranger and Federation Frigate.
Turn 1
Set-up had Gorn rushing to its doom while the Ranger joined with its Federation buddy and tried to turn round. The 24+1 for the first 4 impulses gave everyone a headache. The FF didn't get to fully overload both tubes and the DNH was short of the power to fire a few phasers.
Towards the end of the turn the Rng dropped 6 stingers which "forced" the DN to turn away behing a fast loaded F(RP) a F(LS) and 2 D plasmas
some r8 phasers on the Rng didn't do well. The DN did scrap outside range 10 of the stingers.
Turn 2 everyone 24+1 for most of the turn. The DN launched plasma expecting to force its pursuers to give up the chase but another F and 2 D's were either chopped up by phasers or taken on shields. The DN was becoming concerned. Another phaser strike in the 6-8 bracket failed to do expected damage. The DN wriggled back to get its RP plasma_S into arc and stopped accelerating. The S hit the Ranger for 17 shield hit and a leak (phaser) and the forward shields of the pursers were finally looking a little ragged. However they didn't seem to be showing any sign of turning off.
In a final gambit the DN turned across the approach of the pursuers and sideslipped in to give it a range 5 on the FF. It hit the FF hard and destroyed a photon and then put 6 BP aboard. The melee went 3 to 2 in the FF's favour. The Rng finished the turn by launching his remaining 3 stingers.
Turn 3
DN 16 rest 24+ DN looking for one more strike and then disengaging if things didn't go well. First pulse by decelarating the DN manages to get the Rng into FA arc of its plasma R. This was the moment I thought the pursues would give up for sure but NO. The RNG crashes the R on a rear shield for 18 internals and keeps coming. The FF misses with its photon and then hits with an armed probe! The RNG scrapes away most of a DN shield with range 2 phasers and fusions. The DN strips most of the rangers weapons and knocks another FF shield down and beams 6 more BP across. The stingers all get shots at some point sandpapering the DN shileds some more. One Stinger gets taken out by 2 plasma D.
Turn ends with Rng and FF circling back for another pass or to pick up stingers and leave. The FF kills one more BP but loses all the defenders only its 4 control spaces stand between it and capture.
Turn 4 DN plots 16 to be able to keep away from stingers at need but expecting the battered enemy to recover stingers and leave and hopes to get one more decent phaser strike before they go.
BUT NO in they come again with 8 stingers gatlings promising the end of the DN if the Rng can hang a tractor on it. The DN is forced to hold enough power in reserve to fight the RNG's tractor which leaves little to fire. A few phaser ones and 4 hit and run raids fail to get the sole surviving Tractor so the DN holds fire until impulse 8 when it blasts the RNG with 7 phaser-1 and a phaser3 at close range and it explodes. The brave FF after hitting with a second probe which together with a RNG did 25 internals to the DN. End of turn boarders fail to secure the FF.
Game called here as it was late, FF taken as destroyed and the Stingers lost but no further damage on the victorious but mentally more than physically battered DN. |

If anyone in the Sacramento, northern california area is aware of this thread, and would like to play in this campaign please let me know. the Empire campaign may be starting over soon, the veteran players and I have talked and after looking at a ll the changes that are in place with the campaign we may want to start over with all changes in place rather than trying to adapt the current campaign to new rules, like research, upgrades and neutral zones.......etc

The Romulan Empire has forced the Death Probe to WITHDRAW! but at great cost!
The Empire sent the following ships into action, this is a revision of the origianl ship deployment, the Death Probe attacked a level 6 system on the Klingon Border!, the Romulans responded with all ships that were on the Klingon Border (as a border incursion in the 1.3 rules) the following ships responded:
the Shrike Light Raiding DN ( Imperial Standard)
The Firehawk (Praetor Stollos)
The King Eagle (shield of the praetor)
The War Eagle (sovereign)
also the KLingons helped out thier allies by sending the C-5 Light Raiding Dreadnaught the IKV Havoc
the battle was ruthless, the Romulans entered cloaked, the C-5 went to speed 16, the Deathprobe speed 32. the DP closed on the C-5 and crippled it, the C-5 threw all power to weapons and hit the Deathprobe hard! the DP then turned away as the Romulans uncloaked and pursued. The DP then turned and moved away, firing phasers at the Soveriegn, scoring minor damage, the Sovereign fired the plasma R and phasers and then turned away. the rest of the romulan fleet pursued the DP as it moved away from the burning wreck of the Havoc. next turn the DP drew towards the C-5 and as the Havoc was about to disengage the DP fired and blew the C-5 Light Raiding Dreadnaught into the afterlife! the mightly Havoc was rent assunder and blew apart, the explosion filled most of the map panel the mightly LDN was on. Part of the crew escaped in a shuttle but 99% of the 850 Klingons perished. The Romulans drew towards the DP, now uncloaked thier only hope was to tracotr the DP and reduce it's 32 speed to 24 and then target plasmas! in this tactic they succeded, the RIS Sovereign tractored the DP and then the romulan fleet fired plasmas, the DP withdrew after firing phaser 3's and drones into the Sovereign, crippling it.
The Death Probe withdrew, destroying the C-5 Havoc, and crippling the WE Sovereign. the DP then re-rolled one the random encounter chart and it moved towards the KLINGON EMPIRE!!!! the Klingons are responding with great force, intellignece reports that the B-10 is personally going to tangle with the Deathprobe!!!
should be interesting...
the Romulans each received 10 Victory Points for forcing the DP to disengage and winning the scenario.
The Romulan Praetor has sent a message of honor to the Klingon Government, and have allowed the transfer of one cloaking device to a ship of teh Klingons choice for thier sacrifice in the name of their alliance! SOmething that the Romulans will not forget.

Hello to all,
As the new player in the campain I thought I would post a message of introduction, hope you enjoy.

Transmission intercepted from the SPPF (Star Pilgrim Protection Fleet) HQ.
To all units: effective immediately SPPF units will be looking in to losses of ships of faithful in other empires. While we in Kzinti space have enjoyed peace and freedom to look for the system where the Fanged God first lifted the Kzinti in to space. It has become apparent that other empires ignorant and willful disregard for the safety of religious pilgrims. These small unarmed ships are being caught up through no fault of their own in the political struggles of the unenlightened and paying with their lives. This must stop, and we will stop it. Every Kzinti looks forward to the day that the lost system will be found again, and we will fight tooth and claw any one who stands in the way!
Remember : The Kzinti warrior is truly a fearless warrior, and secure on every side, for his soul is protected by the armor of faith, just as his body is protected by the armor of steel. He is thus doubly-armed, and need fear neither demons nor men.

Friday night the admirals of the war college will assemble again for turn 10 of the Empire campaign, we have a new player controlling the Kzinti. there are tensions on many borders, empires are trying to rebuild thier economic infrastructure after years of raiding, the Romulans and Gorns have settled into an un-easy truce with many of their ships captains having fought against each other in bloody battle, the TSE continues thier war of genocide against the Federation, the Klingons eye the former Seltorian homeworld but now rush off to defend thier systems against the deathprobe, the Tholians are slowly rebuilding, the west of the galaxy is lit with teh zealous fire of the Kzinit faith, the new emerging Hydran Monarchy has joined in a militray treaty with teh Federation to uphold the area of space north of the void ,and in the background the Puppet master (the orion player) watches and plays empires of against each other....it will be a crucial turn.
after we are done i will post an update!
