Flashpoint Mantor

Using my copy of Captain's Log 24, we set up this very interesting scenario. As we played through it, we ran into some questions we were unable to answer.

1) How does the Klingon get points if they have the recon mission?

2) When each side buys Commander's Options, those points are awarded to the ...

Our group always enjoyed Merchant, Pirate, Soldier, Spy. Did that ever get made into a FedCom scenario?

Another thing Disruptors have going for them is the disposable nature of their charge.

With a multi-turn arming weapon you always hesitate to fire due to the opportunity cost. With phasers you might worry about having to recharge the capacitors next turn.

But a charged disruptor is just begging to ...

We (local SFB group) love this product.

The faction-specific point of turn/slip counters are heavily used. And we exclusively use the Impulse Cards for calling out movement.

I particularly like the "Start of Turn" list of ordered activities and the impulse breakdown cards.

This product has helped ...

Another big difference is that speeds can be generally higher in FC. Ships can even go as fast as a Plasma Torpedo (impossible in SFB), making it much more difficult to get a hit with one.

The easiest way to check this is to use the Order of Battle lists from the wargame Federation & Empire. It gives the full composition of every border and core fleet for all empires at the start of the General War.

More Phaser 1's and 2 more power.

The D7C is an amazing ship.

The ISC represent one of the excellent ironies of the SFU. They are a race of idealists, dreamers, and doves. Yet their natural response upon learning of the rest of the quadrant was a violent solution.

After the shadow of the Andromedan Invasion had finally passed they found that the galaxy had ...

This is excellent news. I've been waiting for an excuse to play F&E again, and a new edition might be just the motivation to get my gaming group to try it out.

I thought the Admiral's game was the campaign system where each player has a 'pyramid' of sectors containing bases, planets, etc. and the object was to fight to the backmost square of the enemy's territory.

Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

The local group keeps a big box full of ship stat cards and rules. If these ships aren't official - I wouldn't know. Maybe there's something fishy going on. Hmm.

Sounds like part of the problem may be the ships we are flying. We are at 100 points, and my opponent is flying the Jind DW which has 6 360* Phaser-1 and half of its heavy weapons firing aft.

I think against this opponent I need to simply give up on plasma and switch to direct fire weapons like the ...

We use the bolts when we can - but the damage output is quite sad for a 3-turn arming cycle. The Anchor isn't really an option. If I could get that close to an enemy then I could conceivably trap them in a corner. But a speed 32 ship (which can also HET) is nigh impossible to step on. :(

I miss the ...
