Thats right. The Romulans had two types of PFs. I remember the ones that look like little birds of prey, others that looked like sparrowhawks.....

I don't so much mind fighters, except that they lead to carriers.
And I don't even mind carriers so much, except that they lead to escort ships. And carrier battle groups.

The concept of escorts and carrier battle groups is just so....wrong....in the SFU that i'd rather not see anyone else have ...

Nowhere does it say: " In order to win, the Romulan player must capture the base. Any other result is a Federation Victory." It does say to use the point system, however.
Also, it says scenario ends when the patrol/rescue ship leaves the map, or is destroyed or captured ...

It says; use the point value victory system (8B2).

Just do not give the Fed player any points unless the Romulan ship disengages, or is destroyed, or captured.

The Fed DW must start 35 hexes from the Base.

According to the scenario rules you can't win if you don't capture the base, also the fed ship need only stay at the base to concentrate its firepower on the incoming romulan to win. Which is basically what my opponent did

this topic just came up. I played this one a few weeks back. I was the Romulans. I never had any intention of capturing the base. Romulans won a substantial victory, just doing internals to the base, and forcing the patrol ship to disengage, as she was crippled.

My only problem with fighters and gunboats is that they would never find a crew. As attrition units they die so quickly you would have to be demented to step into one. Half the mission reports I read explain that the carrier survived but lost all of her fighters. It doesn't make any sense to me for ...

Played a few scenarios from Briefing #1 over the weekend: The Critical hit scenario and Pandora's Box .

I played the Federation in both and flew the NCA in both. Never played this ship before. Nice improvement over the CA. More Power and IMHO, very versitile.

Yes. I read the previous threads. Just wanted to add that Fighters/PFs should be regulated to local defense only-except in the case of Hydrans as they do slow down play a lot.

I am thinking of creating a first contact scenario. Gotta figure the special rules for combat, labs, ect.

I know there is some resistance to Fighters and Pseudo Fighters in FC. I agree with most of the arguments. They do add considerable time to the game, especially drone equiped fighters and the CV class ships.

However, I would suggest that the powers that be limit fighters and PFs to planetary ...
