Stopped vs. Speed Zero

Post by Paul Grogan »

I'm just reading in more detail about the differences between these two, including the errata file, which says that it was clarified / changes in the Rev 3 rulebook - which is the one I thought I had...

Anyway, I've now got 2 contradicting pieces of info. One says that you can make a tactical maneuver when at speed zero but not while stopped, the other says just the opposite.

In my rulebook, It says you basically can't do anything movementwise while stopped.

Weird. I will check the various versions.

You may ONLY make Tactical Maneuvers if you are Stopped. If you are at Speed Zero (or greater), you many NOT make Tactical Maneuvers.

No.

A tactical maneuver may be made once per turn, but on any impulse. When made, it takes place during the fourth movement subpulse.

A high energy turn is complete different. One make make both a high energy turn and a tactical maneuver in the same turn, but not in the same impulse. (Impulse, not sub-pulse.)

Are Evasive manuvers a tacticle manuver? The name would seem to imply so..........

Evasive Maneuvers and Tactical Maneuvers are completely independent.

A Tactical Maneuver allows a Stopped ship the ability to turn 60 degrees.

Evasive Maneuvers are short, quick maneuvers within the space of a hex designed to make it harder for an enemy ship to hit you.

They are totally different and independent.

ok, gotcha on that one. The Master Errata file clears that up.

So if you want to, in energy allocation, you can declare your ship "stopped". You then cant accelerate during the turn, but you could do tactical maneuvers, do a high-energy turn, or make evasive maneuvers.

The difference with the Tactical Maneuver is that you can only do this when stopped.

I think I understand now.... until next time :)
