Indeed, I found that very weird. Most fleet scale ships if doubled would be better than the squadron scale versions. With the "half as many" theory, shouldn't it have 1 Ph-1 and 1 Ph-3 both 360? Instead of losing both Ph-1s and keeping the Ph-3s (LS/RS). Does that strike anyone else as strange?

The scenario we used as the basis for our 3x Klingon F5s vs. 3x Kzinti FFs was Race Against Time in CL #36.
We had originally planned on a 5 player game, but another player showed up just as we were getting ready to begin. We switched from the Kzinti BC and FF setup to the 3x FF option.
We use enlarged SFB maps, so we did not have the "standard" asteroid maps that come in the FedCom products. I have no idea how the asteroid hexes are arranged on those. We just picked 25 asteroid counters from my SFB set and put them spread out in about a 6 hex wide band running from the top to the bottom of the map and through the middle. They were 1 or 2 hexes apart, sometimes 3 apart. There were a couple of places where they were adjacent. I tried being as random as I could, while retaining some amount of equality between the top half of the map and the bottom half.
We will definitely do that scenario again. The asteroid containing the research team didn't show up until the end of Turn 2. Had it been revealed at the end of Turn 1, things would definitely have gone differently.

Pinecone, the Fleet scale ships are half the squadron not the other way around. If ships didn't keep their single box items, they would be pretty worthless (Pl-R on WE, drone on Fed ships, ADD on Klingons, etc.)
So yes, doubling the Fleet scale ships would make them better than the Squadron scale, but that's an argument using a false premise.

Yeah, it basically goes like this as far as matchups, though some give an advantage to either side:

I won't quibble with your matchups, but the DD has been matched up with both the F5 and the D6. It fits uncomfortably between both.
The CL is usually matched up against the D6, but the CL is probably too weak for that fight.

BTW, it is NCD, not NDC; CF, not FC; DNL, not LDN; DNH, not HDN.

Actually, there is an article in the forthcoming CL37 that covers exactly how to do that. (Use an SFB SSD in FC.)DNordeen wrote:Most of the ships are in SFB and haven't made it to FC. You could buy the R modules for SFB and use the ships though. Just ignore the extra stuff.
