ESG and asteroid interactions

Post by marcus_aurelius »

Does anyone know what/where are the Fed Commander rules regarding the interaction of ESGs and asteroid fields?

A friend and I were playing a Kzinti vs Lyran asterioid field scenario from
the most recent Captains Log and we were guessing on what to do.
I searched the Distant Kingdom ESG rules and the Tholian Attack
asteroid rules and could not find anything.

Thanks!

I would imagine you would treat the asteroid hex like a ship or drone (just another object in the hex),
1 point to astro, 1 to drone, 1 to ship etc -- just like you would if there were several drones/fighters etc in the hex ---

Just make a big pile of smaller rocks but not clear the hex ---

I might be wrong on this, I don't have Distant Kingdoms rules yet, but I assume the Astroid is much like other celestrial bodies (planets or moons) so when you apply damage to the astroid, it has unlimited damage. Correct?

I appreciate the responses. I just sat down carefully reread the ESG rules and found the answer. The answer is actually a combination of both your replies!

In Distant Kingdoms, p5, rule 5N2d, near the very end, says, "Note that moons, asteroids, planets, comets, and other such astronomical bodies are treated as the largest target and require an infinite number of damage points to destroy."

I think that I must have overlooked it two or three times during the heat of battle. :)

Thanks!
