1/ Does the Starbase have the ability to control 12 seeking weapons or just 6?

2/ If using the Scout rules from the communique, which WPN boxes become SEN boxes?

1. If it says that it can control 12 on the card, it controls 12. Otherwise, 6.

2. Heavy weapons - those hit on "torpedo" hits, generally. Photon, Disruptor, Plasma, Fusion. PPDs and Hellbores (from Booster 0) are also considered to be heavy weapons, even though they're hit on "drone".

That's what I thought - but since everything else of this "point size" tends to have double drone control, I want to make sure.

Thanks.

1) The Starbase description in the Battleship Attack rulebook says that the Federation, Klingon, and Kzinti starbases can control 12 drones. The rest have normal (6) drone control.

2) Which "WPN" boxes on what?

On the Starbase? There would be a special sensor in each "pod", plus two more in the base hull.
On a Battlestation? There would be a special sensor in each "pod", plus one more in the base hull.
On a Base Station? There would be two in the base hull.
In all cases, these are in addition to the already existing boxes.

On an Orion? You may put a special sensor in any WPN box, and/or replace any Drone box.

On a regular warship? Replace all heavy weapons with special sensors. This isn't exactly right, but gets you close enough, especially on War Cruiser and smaller scouts. (Pl-S and Pl-R boxes are replaced by two special sensors each.)

Sorry to be picky, Mike, but by 'the rest', do you mean all other bases of all types, not just Starbases?

It doesn't really matter in that all of the non-starbase bases from all of the races (including the Federation, Kzintis and Klingons) can only control 6 seeking weapons. It's only the Federation, Klingon and Kzinti *starbases* that are an exception to this and can control 12. It doeesn't say either in the ship description or on the ship card that other bases can control 12 seeking weapons, and therefore we have to assume they have the default control limit of 6.

It does kinda suck doesn't it? Well for most bases it's not too bad, because even the Kzinti BATS only has 4 drone racks, the same as most Kzinti ships, which can also only control 6 drones. It would be nice to be able to launch crushingly large drone waves with the base though...
