Darren you make federation ships absolutely breathtaking. I am color blind and would love it if you would give us a rundown of the colors you use and an explanation of your technique for filling in that hull grid. Seriously making me want to strip my feds and add start fresh. Thanks for sharing.

Man those are awesome, and that sort of compliment doesn't come from me without good reason!

I love the weathering you have done on those, and the attention to detail is just breathtaking considering the (small) size of the models. I would say all the hard work you've put into these has more than paid off, very nice job there. :D

Exquisite work. I'm at a loss for words.
You put a lot of effort and expertise into yours and it really shows.

I airbrush my minis. I start the painting process by priming with Tamiya Grey Primer. I then use my airbrush to dust the model, applying my highlight tone (Testors Acryl Light Grey for regular vessels or Light Ghost Grey for Fast Warships) to the raised sections of the model. This leaves a shadow in the recesses. After this, I seal the mini with Testors Satin Clear Coat which gives enough smoothness for me to apply and wipe off a dark grey wash but leaves enough tooth to retain some staining - this is how I achieve the weathered effect. I apply pin washes with oil paint because I like the long working time...

Once the wash is dry, decals are applied and details are picked out using Testors Acryl Dark Engine Grey and Aircraft Interior Black. Everything is sealed with Satin Clear Coat.

As for creating new grid lines: please refer to this thread-

Hope all that helps!
