Litko Aero: custom templates

I'm on a mailing list and Litko Aerosystems sends new product info. They've got turn gauges for naval games; I'm wondering if these would be useful for FC/SFB? Since the miniatures mount on hex bases a set of guides could be made for weapon/shield arcs and some sort of angled turn gauges to use with miniatures on an open table. They asked for some sort of design; I'm not that talented and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to design one.

Tom: Your best bet would be to check with John Schneder. His group (Battlegroup Cincinnati) plays "hexless" SFB and FC, exclusively.

If anyone on this forum has an idea of what sort of design is required, it would be him.
