SWO_Daddy's Miniature Webpage

Post by SWO_Daddy »

Posting here for those who don't frequent the Discus BBS. I just finished up a project to photograph and post my SFB mini collection to my website. I'm about to move to Germany for two years and will be leaving my minis in storage, so I really wanted to get this done.

See the "Miniature Workbench" on my website: http://jgray-sfb.com/

Or go straight to the Miniature Workbench at: http://www.jgray-sfb.com/miniatures.html

I don't post here often, and I'll be on travel for the next few days, so I'll apologize now if I'm slow getting back to this thread. I've been posting regularly on the Discus BBS for years, so you might have better luck catching me in the topic there: http://www.starfleetgames.com/discus/me ... 1239117575

Cheers,
Jeremy

Nice to see you over here too Jeremy. Great stuff and lots of it.

Best of luck in Deutschland, by the way. Anchors away.

Dear jeremy, iam just starting a campaign based on your admirals game and including the scenarios in the romulan border etc . wish me luck is the romulans whats going to make it interesting is the inclusion of the klingon thoalian border squadron but they are only going to be used to divert the feds away.

Good luck with the Admiral's Game. Dale would have killed to have Klingons from the outset in our game!

Somebody in another thread mentioned that they had not seen many pics of painted Juggernaughts. Well, here's a couple:

This one of the very early Juggy "minis" made available by ADB. As I understand it, it was a little short on surface detail compared to later editions, so I added a few things using styrene stock.

Nice job on that Jeremy.

Mine is only in basecoat right now.

I was intending on adding surface detail by masking and painting (kind of like the "aztec" pattern on the movie Enterprise).

I did add more prominent engines in styrene though:

I also added barrels to the nose phaser-4's and the little nose-probe antenna:

However, it's been two years, my skills have grown, and I'm unhappy with the excessively thick primer coat it has on it (lost a lot of detail in the grille work, etc.). If I strip it, I might plate it a bit in styrene like you did. I also have some nifty embossed brass sheet (for railroaders) which might add some neat detail.

I also added some stuff to the belly of my Juggy, but took a different approach. I used come rectangular channel stock and added what looks kind of like intakes or tunnel decks. I also added a couple other shapes just to spice things up. Wish I had a picture I could show you.

Looking back on it now (and having re-read the story in CapLog#1, 20 years later), I probably would have just added a block and other shapes and left the engine exhausts as they are on the model (which matches the story). Oh, well.

I actually like the fact that a lot of folks have costomized their Juggy minis. The resin models really lent themselves to modification, and its cool to see what folks have come up with. As there is now more than one historical Juggernaught, whose to say anyone's particular modification is right or wrong? Looks good to me!
