More child/starship combat game indoctrination

Post by shauneroo »

Yes, I've just introduced my 11 year old boy to Fed Com. We played a simple 3 way duel (with the wife), all in Fed ships, as they are the easiest to explain I think.

What can I say? He absolutely loved it! He picked it up straight away, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute, especially firing 8 PH-1s (he had a New Fast Cruiser) into my Strike Cruiser's #1 shield dead ahead at range 1.

I left some rules out, such as acceleration, decels, tractors, HETs, but we played with suicide shuttles, drones and photon pre loading and overloading.

He was thinking tactically very quickly, and realised that once his 1 and 2 shields were down, it would make very good sense to keep that side of the ship away from any more harm.

All in all, a great session, and I think we have another convert on our hands :D

Good job: first on making a clever kid and then on steering to our fine hobby. :)

Really, the Klingons are easier to learn because of the Disrupters, I've played with a 10 year old, he learned the Klingons easy but had trouble with the Feds.
