Chang: Your probobly right that what you say happened, but its just luck. Leaning forward and saying "Fire!" Kirk style isn't actually going to increase your odds.

Scoutdad: As said, I've only played Duel, so the strategies are for that. Making a strategy to use as a general guideline is never a bad idea, though being inflexible is.

Maybe this is being a bit blunt, but I don't believe in Superstition.

So you never blow on your dice or talk to them saying low/high numbers ---

Dr Brennan (Bones) would love you --- There doesn't seem to be a clue in your body concerning the human experience ---

I don't usually, and I sometimes say low numbers. I don't actually think it works (And believe you agree.)

And of course, it is most illogical to believe in superstition.

There is no such thing as Dice Gods, and the only thing you can do to change the results is roll again.

First off, if you haven't rolled theres nothing to change ---
Whatever method you use for luck, you aren't trying to change anything, your hoping for rolls that are good for you ---

No matter what anyone thinks they know, history that hasn't happened can't be changed, it is made (for good or bad) but not changed ---

Inherently, I know this statement to be true... but somehow, for 30+ years I've made a short prayer to the dice gods before every roll that has to be the one I need to win...
16.67% of the time I get a 1
16.67% of the time I get a 2
16.67% of the time I get a 3
16.67% of the time I get a 4
16.67% of the time I get a 5
16.67% of the time I get a 6
So I have a slightly less than 17% chance of receiving the requested intervention.
That won't stop me from employing the "Woobie Prayer"* on a regular basis.

If you don't know what a Woobie is - just ask someone who plays F&E at Origins. They'll be glad to explain it and it's effectiveness to you.

When people started going on and on about odds, I always believed everything came down to you have a 50% in every thing that happens ---

50% you'll be successful --- Things go your way
50% you'll fail --- Things don't go your way

Makes things more platable for me at least ---

Not always, with a good strategy, you can overcome all but the worst luck.

Enterprise,

You missed the point entirely ---

Dice roll, no matter if it has 4, 6, 8, or 20 when you roll it, I see it as 50/50 if comes up good/bad for you ---
