Stingers left behind

In the shuttle rules, it is noted that any shuttles left behind when all the friendly ships leave or are destroyed, are considered destroyed. Does this apply to Hydran Stingers? E.g. I kill all the Hydran ships but there are still some Stingers left on the map. Does the scenario continue, or are the stingers automatically dead/surrendered because they have no ride home?

Under the RAW, it says that Stingers follow shuttle rules unless otherwise noted, but since admin shuttles basically are helpless targets when there's no ship around, a case could be made that Stingers and other fighters are different.

I'll bet the answer will have to do with the purpose of the mission.

If I was a Stinger pilot and I got left behind - I'd probably surrender.

All that Victory or Death is fine... until you're in a teeny little fighter, all alone in the cold, dark emptiness of space. Heck, even I'd feel sorry for Hydran (if he was in that situation)...

Back to the original question...
Stingers are slightly differnet han fighters, but even they can't get home w/o a ship to carry them. I'd say they follow the shuttlecraft rules if left behind.

Yep, they're shuttles except for the things that make them different, and this isn't different. They're shuttles. Left behind, they are shuttles.
