SCS

Post by Hod K'el »

I am going to guess that we are not going to see any SCS for the foreseeable future, right?

But will they be in BoM?

Without gunboats in BoM, SCS would be kind of homeless.

Or F-111s, for that matter.

Actually, unless they added a version I don't remember seeing, no SCS carries F-111s. (Well, it *could*, but only a reduced squadron of 4. So, it isn't done.)

For the actual question, I would not expect to see them in the BoM product being taked about by Steve. To make use of a SCS, you need both fighters AND gunboats. To the best of knowledge, only fighters are going to be in BoM.

At some point in the indeterminate future, I suppose SCSs might be added through BoM, but nothing on the roadmap right now.

Carriers

Post by Hod K'el »

Thanks, Mike. Your answer brings up the next question, what is the largest carrier that will be published? D7V or B10V or ...?

From what I can see, the intention is to use "strike carrier" classes in BoM. This means ships like the D7V and CVS from CL37.

Quite frankly, it is an open question as to whether the game system can stay balanced with the use of a 12 fighter carrier. Until that is understood, there is little chance of seeing a 24 fighter carrier.

Carriers & Fighters

Post by Hod K'el »

Thaks again, Mike!

The only real unbalancing that I can find from play testing fighters is the F14 (or was that the F15?) due to the PH-G. Otherwise, I don't think they unbalance the game due to the BPV cost that is paid for them. Seriously, we are talking a chunk of change that could have been a very nice escort ship...or two!

I base this on all of the games from playtesting. Won one (big time), then lost one (big time), then fought to a 'draw' on all the rest. Note that I consider fighting to a darw as we both got tactical victories or both got marginal victories, etc. It was a learning curve.

I now want to build a carrier fleet. It will be a copy of a fleet from some novels I have read. They have different sized carriers so I am having to work around this in FedCom, which is why I have been asking these questions.

Trust me...I'll get there from here. And thanks again!
