Fiction Line Idea: Ta Da!

Booster Packs, Squadron Boxes, etc. (you get the idea) can be discussed here.

Fiction Line Idea: Ta Da!

Post by Andorian4ver678 »

I've always wanted to see prose anthologies or novels based on the Starfleet Universe.

"But what about The Other BooksTM?"

This line can focus on stuff The Other BooksTM doesn't do or doesn't do often. ie things that are particular to the Starfleet Universe.

For example:

Gorn

Tholians

Hydrans

ISC

Andromeans

Feline Empires

The Animated Series

Early Years
Middle Years
Four Powers War
General War
ISC War of Pacification
Andormedan Invasion
Trade Wars
Xorkealian War

The posibilities are unless.

I just don't know under what title they should be under.

Prime Directive for the character stories?

Federation Commander for the war stories?

Don't forget Omega and the Magellanics, too!

I think it's a great idea. However, I understand that SVC is rather sensitive about "The Other Universe" copyright and licences, and you should probably check with ADB before going too far down the road.

Someone did a fantastic short story about why certain well-known personalities from "The Other Universe" didn't appear in the SFU. Have a read of it, it's great. Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw it!

I am not grasping this.

Is there already a line of books called THE OTHER BOOKS?

We are planning to do paperback books this year. The first one is called FOR THE GLORY OF THE EMPIRE and reprints several Klingon-based stories.

I think he's referring to the Pocket Books range - and that ADB could publish novels set in the Star Fleet Universe, highlighting the unique aspects of this setting compared to that seen in PB's titles.

Such as, say, the Federation and Klingon Empire as portrayed in PD, the Lyran/Kzinti/Carnivon family feuds, and the Federal Republic of Aurora...

I went and asked. It was written by Garth Getgen.

We are already preparing paperback books for publication using fiction printed in captain's log.

If somebody writes a good novel, I'll publish it, but I don't have time to write it.

Sneaky Scot / mjwest:

Thank you both for the kind words regarding my short story.

I re-read it the other day and found yet another "Easter Egg" that I didn't know I put in there. Or at least, forgot I put in there. ;-)

See, I wrote that while deployed to Pakistan 2-1/2 years ago. As I didn't have any of my books or videos, and limited Internet access (most sites were blocked), I had to hide all the Eggs purely from memory. All in all, I think I did a pretty good job, if I say so myself. And the story as got to be my best-ever writing. I'm trying, but I just can't find a way to top it.
