SFB/FC in LEGO

Post by marcus_aurelius »

On a whim, I decided to use the LEGO Digital Designer to attempt some SFB/FC creations in LEGO. Here was my second attempt, a Kzinti BC/CC.
I was fairly happy with the outcome.

The basic structure and dimensions are based upon the SVC original
design. Some of the surface details were inspired by Adam Turner's
Kzinti BC artwork.

Very cool. It would be neat (but expensive!) to get the bricks to actually build one. 8)

I remember my son trying to make a Fed CA out of real Legos many, many years ago. The nacelles kept falling off.

Thanks!

They have reinforced internal skeletons so they could
actually be built, placed on stands and hold together under gravity.
You can see the stand holes on the bottom of the Kzinti.

It would be very expensive, TOO expensive. About $425 for the Kzinti through the Digital Designer / LEGO Factory. I might be $250-300 if the
bricks were ordered individually. I was bummed about that.

I haven't seriously tried Federation. I have seen many Enterprise models
on the web. I will probably try a serious attempt someday.

I have a half-completed Gorn model (the saucers were rather difficult).
If I get the time to finish it I will post it too.

At brick world in downtown disney you can get a lot of pieces. I built an Enterprise (Class, not ship), Miranda, Oberth, Excelsior, D7, K'tinga, and Bird of prey for both Klinks and Roms there.

I vote for a Hydran Overlord or an Andomedan Intruder next!

I said in the other BBS that if anybody wants to offer a list-and-instructions for building such ships so that people can order the parts and build them, you have my permission. I don't see a way for the company to profit from such things (or stop them) so knock yourself out. But if anybody builds a real one, I want a photograph.

Steve,

If I ever do build one in real bricks I will be certain to provide
hi-res photographs to you.

I give it a 50-50 chance that I might try to build the Kzinti BC/CC
since it is one of my favorite ships in the game.

Gorn BC Added

Post by marcus_aurelius »

I have added a Gorn BC now.

The Gorn was was the most difficult to create by far
because of trying to approximate the saucer sections.

Please keep this up. I'd love to see a Fed, Klink, or Lyran!

Here is a link to a guy who is serious into Lego modeling. He has done some Star Trek Models, mainly Federation from the movies, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. You should take a look at the different Fleets he has on display.
