Who is the Mutineer?

Post by pinecone »

This was the game we played on my birthday. I played the Orion (Ph-1 boat), My brother played the E4/APT, and my dad chose the F5. I was disloyal, the F5 wasn't. But we didn't know that, until a certain point.

On turn one, the LR and E4/APT set 24, the F5 set 8. I hetted and tried to escape, but my brother realized and gave chase, copying my speed of 32. Early on, The F5 fired at me and I stupidly fired back. We didn't hurt each other due to reinforcement. I started my turn at the E4. I took his barrage but it didn't penetrate my shield (Thank you stealth coating!). Then on impulse 8 we passed and had our ships' rears facing each other at range 1. I should also note that I did reveal my red card.

On turn two, The E4 set 24, the F5 set 16, My LR set Backwards 24    !!! (Thank you engine doubling!) I met him at range 1 with our ships' rears facing each other, but I could still fire 5 ph-1's into his rear shield. His return fire was useless. His ship was wreaked (not the APT, mind you), for the E4's back sheild is tiny. The F5 manuvered for a shot at me, dealing minor damage. By now, most of my shields were mostly gone, But I had few internals.

On turn three nothing of any real value happened. I hit the E4 again, leaving it in bad shape. I took a lot of damage, but was still able to fight while using engine doubling.

On turn 4, I decided to escape. I set 24 with engine doubling and prepared to run. The F5 came up to range 1 of me though, and fired two overloaded distruptors!he rolled twin 5's! (Thank you stealth coating!)

At that point the others agreed that they would just declare Emegency Decel and let me escape. I won! :D

LESSONS:
1. Badly coordinated attacks in battle with more than one player are a killer. If they had come in together on one shield, They would have won.
2. The Orion LR is a terrific little ship.
3. The dice are always nicer on your birthday! :D

Sounded exciting!

One thing, though. If an Orion doubles engines, it doesn't get the stealth coating bonus that Turn.

The only thing that I am going to say is this: there are so many 'OOPS, YOU CAN"T DO THAT' in this report that it is not even worth talking about.

Ow, oops. Hmm...

Well, nobody called me on it

I think I might have had trouble had those hit, but at the speed I had maintained on that turn I could have probably gotten enough distance to escape anyway...

At least I'll know for next time. Thanks Mike.
