Yeah, you'd have thought so, wouldn't you?

I have a great deal of respect for the Klingons and I love playing them in Starfleet Command, the computer game, that is. The Orions are cr@p in that game....

Also I have done a great deal of work in trying to get the Klingon F5 [my second fave Klink ship after the C7] to work against its classical opponents. So yes, I love the Klingons but the Orions just pip them at the post for my fave race.

The Hydrans make up for what they lack in Fast and manuverable in Deadly

The Feds are underdogs (in most scenarios) and I find them fun to play, althogh I ususally lose

. I also like them because they are the Shps that the Humans (among others) used.

BTW Kang, do you have Orion Attack? It's not as fun as picking out the weapons you want but spend about anc hour (tops) and you'll find the weapons set your looking for, or close too it.

. I did some testing and it seems like the Orions (at least in the Starfleet Command 2:Orion Pirates expansion) only really have a chance at a few BPV-matchups-- everywhere else, they are outclassed:

- At 80 points, where Orions can get a War Destroyer when most races are stuck with FFs.

- In earlier-era matches with BPV just below CA-level, where the CR is decent and there aren't too many competing ships for other races (weak CLs or DDs that are smaller).

1) L.D.R. (gatlings and ESG's got to love it)
2) Paravians (

i know their not in the game yet. neither is #3 or #5 but i like playing them)
3) Peledine (drones and plasma's make for interesting times)
4) Romulans (well they are the rightful masters of the galaxy yeah know)
5) Tycosians (created by mike raper on the legacy board. they use plasma cannons)
6)Neo Tholians (still learning to play them)
7) the rest of the race's

yes i know #2,3 & 5 are not part of the game but i do like playing them every once in a while

Yes, I play SFC-OA exclusively. SFC 2 is well buggy, SFC 1 doesn't run on WinXP unfortunately, and I very much miss the majestic music at the start of the title sequence on that game. Still, a lot of that is computer-speak, and therefore off-topic. Apologies, guys

The Romulans have always been my favorite character-wise.
They just have such an interesting background, especially considering the way that the Romulans in SFB aren't tainted by any of the more ridiculous developments that TNG subjected them to.

The Hydrans are probably my favorite race to play.

EDIT: SFC1 will run on XP, as I run it on a EEE PC 1000H netbook.
It's one of my favorite travel games!

I run SFC 1 on a 4 yo emachine with XP on it --

Worse problem I have is with video, weapons fire in mass has tendancy to clog it up for a few secs --- then it goes back to working just fine --

SFC 2 -- haven't tried it with XP, but after 8 or 10 scenarios, on my 98SE machine it took forever to load the missions, load the main screen after missions --

Haven't done enough with Orions to get a handle on how it runs, 90% when I tried to play ran into an x ship and bang dead, hard to get into it when theres little chance to win --

I too miss that wonderful music, and the ability to select Starbase assault from the skrimishes screen. The Campaigns were funner too.

I've played all the Alpha races in SFB, and enjoyed all of them except the Tholians - I never could get my head around the web rules.
Looking forward to the ISC and especially the Andromedans in FC - the Andros always were my favorite Bad Guys.

I'm amazed (and delighted) to see the Hydrans in second place in the poll. Time for some more love for the methane faction!

1) Romulans all the way. It is only a matter of time till we have conquered the entire galaxy.
2) Andromedans the only way the above is not going to happen.
3) Federation because nothing beats a cruiser volley of photons that all hit, the look on the other guys face is priceless.
4) LDR for the same reason the other guy said.
5) Hydrans because there little toys are the best.
