I thought it was just a bigger Orion engine. Anyway, the normal third engine of the CA is mounted to the bottom of the hull. I would assume the larger engine is mounted in the same location.

Captain's Log #3 details the upgrade of the Hammerfield and doesn't make mention of the engine being a non-standard Orion one or not. The text just specifies it being increased by 50%.

For some reason I remember it being a non standard engine. It was unable to double. I always assumed it was a fed recovered item. But it could be someone else's 15 pt engine.

More research must be done!! :D :D

Want to thank you all for the input. 25 + years of ST & SFB fluff blurs at times. Not to mention the numrous beer laided speculation with fellow fans. Cpts Log #3 from 1984. I was 28 in Scheinfurt Germany, here I am about to turn 54 and the story still sticks out in my mind, All be it a bit fuzzy . Shows that good stuff passes the test of time. Think I will go with a Orion DN Class Engine. Make it stand out and strike fear like an enforcer should. :D

I've always thought it was top mounted and never got the memo that it couldn't double. I've never really played that ship enough to know.

Having a lucid moment!!! :D

I just remembed why I thought the Hammerfield could not double its engine. Some where I got it into my mind that it was a recovered engine. If memory serves me right. ( and it dosen't allways.) ships used by Orions but not of Orion construction can not double the engine.

Ahhh. That makes me feel a bit less stupit. But not by much.

like the OK6 conversion ship. that couldn't double it's engines because they were Klingon engines.
