Starfleet Command scenario/mission question

I know this is not really an ADB product, but this is the best forum I can think of for this question.

In the computer game Starfleet Command - Orion Pirates, there si a scenario called 'Negotiate!'.

I have never been able to solve this scenario. There's an enemy ship running flat out for a planet, carrying some important spare part or cargo, whatever.

So you run like mad to catch him before he gets to the planet, scan him and find the cargo, and at that point I have hailed the enemy ship and the scenario fails immediately.

Am I supposed to fire on him, or something? We can't beam the cargo off him. Perhaps attach a tractor?

The thing is with all these scenarios is that they occur randomly, so you don't get a chance to work out how to do them.

Any ideas, please?
