I love the decals.. though i too wish the text for the fed ships was a bit smaller..not the names so much as the number classifications I saw.. the numbers and text were a bit large..

overall, I too am appreciative to Bob to see decals.. I am going to be fielding the feds.. so this is great news for me!!

I may order some here once i complete my fleets..

I would also love to do a Mirror mirror ship for the heck of it, they just look so cool!!

I am nothing if not responsive...

To coinside with my next official product release (Seltorians, battle damage and repairs, and additional Feds), I'll reduce the hull number size for both the block-font and round-font Federation decals. The whole project should be done by next weekend.

As always, I'm always looking for new ways to improve my products.

Thanks!
Bob

Don't be afraid to run with your own take on things, but It's nice that you listen to folks.

It's really no problem! :D I like the size on my Fed stuff 'cause I can read them from a ways away, but that doesn't mean everybody needs to have them that size. I'll consult with my Starfleet Technical Manual (original 1975 printing... one of my favorite possessions) to get a better size.

I feel that the most important thing for me is to be as responsive to my customers as possible, to give them what they want when they want it. You won't necessarilly see that in other decal manufacturers!

I'd recommend looking at some sources that researched the filming miniature for the tv-ship, as opposed to the Tech Manual. Franz Joesph had to work from a few film stills. The modern guys have had access to a lot more information.

Some of the best sources are:
Charles Casmiro
and
Alan Sinclair
among others and still more.

Great! Thank you! I'm continually impressed by how helpful and just plain nice the folks on the FC and SFU forums are. You're the best!

Funny we have this conversation on this weekend.

Doug Drexler posted some never before seen photos of the original filming miniature (within hours of my last post), on his blog HERE.

Great pictures! I've spent my time at the SA&SM, but my wife and daughter have less patience than I do for taking pictures of the same object.

I've updated all of the block-style decals to the new size; they're available now.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm just in the process of re-furbishing some of the old Zocchi ships, and I have to say that the slightly oversized look of the Pomroy decals was putting me off ordering them. I'd be interested to see what the smaller versions look like.

Pomroy Productions Block-style Primary Hull markings

Post by hobbybob »

My website has been updated with examples of each strip showing the smaller block-style font size for primary hull markings.

The Twins game last night :D pre-empted production work on the actual decals, but samples of ships will be up soon.

Hobbybob! awesome man, I will check out your site to see the smaller text numbers for the Fed ships! I love that you are fan focused on your products! it makes for a reliable person to recommend to my friends!

I have the Federation as my first fleet, and more then trying to read the ships from across the table, I would want more accuracy in the decals..that is just me..

All I need to know is the name of the ship I am looking at, and that is easy because of the numbers on the hull, since my ship cards will have both, i can easily recognize which ship is which.. the numbers were the only thing I felt could be made a smaller size, since the name is about where I think it should be..

anyhoo.. you are definitely the guy I'm ordering from, I need to look at your website, but I'm pretty sure I'm going with you on my ships..

Hobbybob, I just ordered a few sheets from you, (Fed Tugs,Pods, and Strike Carriers-very necessary for my fleet!), and if the actual looks as nice as the screenshot, anticipate a bigger order from me in November,Sir! :D
