Wet erase?

Can you use wet erase pens on the FC ship cards?

Yes. Wait. What is "wet erase"? Do you mean "dry erase"? If so, yes.

But, remember to always keep the permanent markers way away from the play area.

Also, don't let the dry erase marks sit on the card for any length of time, or it becomes very difficult to remove them.

For normal usage dry erase markers work great.

One thing I'll add, for both cases -
Normal old "rubbing alcohol" will remove most markers from the laminate used on the cards. I've had good luck with it removing "dry erase" that stayed on w-a-y too long and couldn't be rubbed off and I've also had good luck with it removing "Sharpie" marker when that was used accidentally on some of my cards.

By wet erase I mean those overhead projector pens. They wipe off with water.

Eric: Yes... I've used wet erase markers on my ships cards before. Dry erase does work better, but is a bit less durable.
The biggest problem I've found with wet-erase is that they do leave a residue behind. After a while, this needs to be cleaned. As will says, rubbing alcohol will remove this quite nicely (although denatured alcohol works even better).

As for Sharpies... I've used them on my ship cards also. Should you use a sharpie (either intentionally or accidentally), there's an easy way to remove it. Using a dry-erase marker, liberally cover the sharpie mark. The sharpie mar can then be wiped off with the dry erase marker - although a heavy mark (or one that has been dry a while) may need a second coat of dry erase to completely remove the mark.

This is the method that Ad Astra Games recommends for marking the AVID/PHAD in their games.

Ah, OK. Yeah, those should work fine.

Sorry for being clueless on that, but it has been so long since I have touched or even seen an overhead projector pen. Or an overhead projector, for that matter. All I ever see now are the projectors that you plug into your laptop's video adapter. The idea of a transparency and projector is just so 1990s.

My last boss once used Tipp-Ex on overhead projector slides, much to the amusement of his students.....

For those of us in the US...
Tipp-Ex is the equivalent of Liquid Paper or Wite-Out brand correction fluid.

Over the years doing RP games -- we used alcohol based pens a lot --

Found out the hard way, Blue ones have tendency to embed the color if left on for several days --

Yep. I've got an old (think 15 to 20 years) Chessx vinyl hex mat. It's a light tan colr and still has the pale blue remnants of the river our party was cmaped by when the kobolds attacked right near the end of a session.

We just rolled up the mat with the markings still on it. Two or three weeks later, we finished the session and tried to erase the mat. Ooops.

At least it provides an epic tale whenever a new player sees the mat for the first time and asks about the stains.
