Adam Turner's Art
Hey guys! I've already introduced myself in another thread, but for those of you who don't know me, my name is Adam Turner, and I've been doing much of the art for FC.
I just wanted to show you guys some of my work in greater detail, as well as some things I create for fun in my spare time.
Just click the link below to look at my gallery of random things. I'll update it over time.

I was hoping to contribute to LFS, but it looks like that ship has sailed. Neal Davidson seems to have it pretty well sewn-up.
Oh well. Much to do anyways.
I do have some of my SFU art at my page:

Adam... what can I say? I looked at your image gallery. Just amazing. Beautiful.
"Calm Before the Storm" blew me away, and "Oh Crap!" would be a good cover for Distant Kingdoms, IMO.

LFS is black and white, mostly blueprints. I may be able to use one pic from Adam or Ted per ship (20 per book, most of which they've already done and sent to me). Adam's and Ted's work does best in color, which is too expensive to print a whole book of.
Neal has done most of the drawings for the first book but the text content is taking more focus than I can give it at this time.

I would love to have even that much involvement in the project.Steve Cole wrote:LFS is black and white, mostly blueprints. I was thinking it would be cool to have like one picture per ship entry that looks like a photograph of the given ship in action. Like a grainy photograph taken by an opportunistic journalist looking out a porthole of another ship, with a very "you are there" feeling to it. I think that would play well in black and white too. I know that's not necessarily what the "Jane's" guides have historically been like, but if there's one thing SFU, sci-fi, and Star Trek fans like in my experience, it's pretty pictures of ships.
I also appreciate and understand that you don't necessarily want to pay for that much artwork in a book that's probably already going to be expensive to produce. But art is my specialty, and I feel that part of my job is trying to enhance that aspect of any product I'm involved in. (My outpouring of creativity is also frequently tempered by your pragmatism, which I also appreciate and understand.)

I assume you're referring to the hive ship? That would make an extremely cool image. I'm gonna have to think about that one...Nerroth wrote:Hey Adam - if you've done a Battlewagon art piece for the new Battleships Attack book, have you thought of trying to do a wallpaper showing it and a surrounding Seltorian fleet sailing near the wreckage of a recently-cracked Tholian Dyson Sphere?

Not quite - there's a new ship coming for Battleships Attack called the Battlewagon (which based on the pic on the countersheet - posted over at the legacy site - looks like a Nest Ship, the smaller equivalent of the Hive Ship) which was designed to crack spheres!
Well, so far as I could tell from the conversation over there...
