What are we going to do to fix this problem? Will the fix be retroactive to FC? (I would think not, but shame on me for not considering such and, thus, the original post.) Will it be applicable to BoM only? (Probably) Will it entail elements from SFB? (Maybe) But let's stay focused.
Can you be a little more detailed. What fighters - stingers, or others. If BoM then what rules are you using. How big a fight are you talking and how many fighters etc. In terms of balance, losing 1 ship a turn to fighters is meaningless without context. I've played games where stingers have wiped 3 ships in a turn and others where the stingers have struggled to do anything all game. If you can be a bit more specific about the problem (and therefore what the question really is) then I'll be happy to try and provide some constructive answers.

Let me see if I can assist with details...
The first game was Klingon vs. Fed fighters. The second game was Kzinti vs. Klingon fighters and the third game was a Kzinti Civil War. All games were using rules for BoM from CL #37. 12 fighters each side. Basically, there were 2 carrier groups fighting it out in each game, each loosing one ship per turn. Escorts were firing everything they could at the fighters and drones, but were overwelmed. My final determination was, yes, it is balanced, but devastating!

Hod,

A hopefully related question - how long diid it take you to play a carrier battle between 2 CVS groups? I know how long it would take in SFB, but I'm curious to see how it compared.
Nothing is quite as persuasive as a disruptor pistol on slow burn and a rotisserie......

Sneaky Scot, good question, and the answer is much, much faster. We played three games inside of four hours. The fourth game required almost exactly 1.5 hours. This does lend credence to playing carrier battles in FC / BoM as I have never played a game of SFB nor BFG with carrier warfare that moved this fast.

I should point out that we were using the instant drone hit rules in the first three and not in the fourth, but the fourth was just a rematch, as in same races, different drone rules set. I will concede that the additional drones on the board did clutter the playing field, but allowed a little better control of the defensive fire; much more balanced and I really cannot argue 'broken' in this case, but the 'instant hit' rules are definitely broken; thus my post about fixing this before BoM is published.
