Skexis calls in on his com and gets up to speed.

"You know, I do know someone with a ship. Though this sounds like alot of trouble. I'm with Marcus. Let's see if we can get info another way."

"Ah, let's go. Whoever you know with a ship probably has more lucrative contracts, anyhow."

"Let's go to the nomad quarter. Some stuff I need moved..."

[Engaging dual clue bat, gm fiat, and extreme plot telescoping to move things along.]

You search around the nomad quarter.

You realize that "Rocky" and "Rokerig" must be the same person. ("Rokerig" met with X'al Fen the day before his death... you found that out from the appointment book you found.) "Rocky" must have been a nickname adopted for interacting in non-nomad culture and off-world business contacts. [Epic face-palm moment, yeah!]

After some additional investigation and several tedious false leads, you track down Rocky's grandfather. He lives in a hovel on the edge of town.

He seems a bit shy, but you can ask him some questions if you like.

Captain Jack takes his turn being Captain Obvious: "Where can we find Rokerig now?"

He says he's gone on a hunt, he won't be back for weeks.

He could be anywhere in the desert, the way these things go.

Nomads eschew technology when it comes to traditional hunting, so there's no way to contact him, sorry.

(OOC: My geek-fu is weak!)

Let's ask Rokerig's grandfather anything he knows about R.'s associates, archeological activities, career, etc.

Finding Keldek might be helpful as well.

Marcus tries to determine if the Rokerig's Grandfather is lying.

OOC: I know I have it at default level (if ther eis a default?) but before I interrogate him I need to at least attempt to see if he is being deceptive.

"Look," he tells grandpa, "We're not feds here. We got something that needs doin', and your boy has some info that could make it get done a lot easier. That's all. If he makes it easy for us, we're willing to make things easy for him," he says, rubbing his thumb and fingers together to mean 'money'. "I suppose we could toss in a little finder's fee, you know, respect to the relatives and all," he adds, smiling.

Marcus: You detect no deception on his part; he seems sincere.

At the first sign of even the slightest intimidation/threats, "grandpa" goes nuts--- he seems to hyperventilate as he begs for mercy.

He is barely coherent.

He lives such a simple life... and seems to have no desire for money. He is just alien enough that you have trouble finding a "lever" to get what you want from him.

(OOC: Wait, who threatened him? There was mention in the other thread, but no one did it yet did they?)

He tries calming Grandpa, too, gently and without overwhelming him.
"You got the wrong idea. Whatever we said, or whatever we did, that's not what we meant. Why we're here isn't to hurt anyone. Sure there's all sorts here, but we're just trying to do the right thing. You understand that, don't you?

"Tell you what- your grandson, he's out hunting for food, right? How'd you like if I brought you some food? All you gotta do, is help us to find him. Which is something he'd want anyhow, since we're just going to ask him some questions, and give him something he wants to pay for it. Just like now, we don't want to hurt anyone or scare anyone."

[OOC: He's an NPC and he knows you're PC's. He's afraid you're D&D players when you're not doing sci-fi games. Okay, no. But he is *really* jittery.]

The old guy takes out a box hidden in the wall-- it contains copper trinkets. He lays them at your feet, begging you not to kill him.

All you can make out from his babbling is that he says he doesn't know anything.

Captain Jack looks them over to see if they're Klingon / Old King relics.

[OOC] I'm pretty sure we're all AD&D, GURPS, Fantasy Trip, Legends of Time and Space / Legends of the Ancient World players in addition to Prime Directive players... [/OOC]
