Thanks...Skexis wrote:The characters look pretty good, Jeff. I didn't know you could draw! I kept saying I was going to do a character sketch of Skexis but it never happened.
The humans are from the GURPS Traveller GM screen... and the non-humans are from the GURPS Traveller Dragon deck plan set. Your figure is an Aslan... and the reptiles are... I think they're Bwaps. But from a distance, they don't look particularly uncyclopean.
I don't know why I'm not getting email notices anymore. I sort of gave up without looking because of that... Anyhow, still around but not tonight. Worked forever, extra double time drive home from snow, headache, kids annoying me... I'm going to sleep. I'll try to psot something tomorrow, but if you need me to be NPCed, I'm good with that, too.
Vacc suit... in the desert...?
Am I supposed to roll with that for real...?
Does it make sense...?
What kind of DR are we talking about here...?
(I'd let it go, but Fred complained when I let him tote a rifle into the business district a couple of months ago, so I gotta at least give him a hard time...!)

There *is* a Neck Snap technique in GURPS Martial Arts. Once you grapple your opponent, you can try it if you want. It defaults to ST-4.
Also... if Skexis would like to buy Targeted Attack (Karate/Neck) he can... he can buy off up to half of the penalty for targeting the neck.
...
I will check the rules on claws tonight. If Skexis can do swing damage on a Karate Punch because of them, he may have actually decaipitated that guy...!

Grappling skill looks like a good investment for strong characters:
To grab a weapon, roll DX (or Grappling skill) or less... to take it away, win a regular contest of ST on a subsequent turn.
To grapple, roll DX (or Grappling skill) or less... is successful your opponent can't get away [if he's smaller than you] and he is at -4 to DX. The victim can use a dagger or an unarmed attack, but that's it.

*Armored* vacc suit. With all the stuff.
but yes, it's more a tactical thing, he wouldn't wear it if he wasn't riding an animal. It's heavy- I didn't realize the rad shielding was so darn heavy, must be made out of lead or something.
He also has medium combat armor... Wonder whay I bought both? Paranoid, I guess. Both have DR 30... So I guess I need to be in combat armor instead. That must be why I bought it... normal ops... And the vacc suit was for space ops, since I know the GM is gonna depressurize the hull the minute I finally get off this stinkin' rock...
So he's wearing the cooler combat armor, not the vacc suit.
Oh- Judo is a cool skill. Combined with what Jeff said, if you parry with Judo you're allowed to make an instant grapple. Then you get to attack- so a lock can happen right away, or a takedown or whatever else that needs a second action.

Skexis has officially demonstrated that he is one bad dude in a brawl.
Marcus Kane should feel jealous.
Captain Jack's phasing of a Fralli and an apartment lady were great, but we all know he was lucky.
Heh.
PS This is the first rpg I've played where hand-to-hand combat actually makes sense. Yeah, okay... my last rpg was Gamma World Third Edition, but stay with me on this.
