Ship masterchart ... with avaliability years ?

Post by IKerensky »

Hello,

I am starting the game but find it really interesting and with a lot of potential. I would be interested if it exist more historical/background information from wich to device scenario/campaigns.

One tool that I miss currently is a ship masterlist with the years the different models are avaliable, in order to put ships against their contemporary and to make ship evolution table for campaign game.

Thanks.

FC has avoided any time line beyond early/middle/now sort of stuff.

SFB is where you will find that sort of detail, but you'd have to wait for an SFB player to point you at where, I'm not an SFB player.

The SFB master annexes (Module G3 I think?) has that sort of data on the SFB Master Ship Chart.

Early - Middle Years - General War

Those are the 3 categories (so far).

Terry is correct. The Star Fleet Battles game (SFB to the veterans around here) contains all the detail one could hope for (and then some! )

The G3 Master Annex contains the information on in-service dates.

You might also check out the Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board at www.starfleetgames.com/discus. That is the original Amarillo Design Bureau bulletin board, covering SFB, Federation Commander, Federation & Empire, as well as the other ADB game systems.

Ok,

if I understand well.

All that is in KA, RA, KB, RB and all other booster and attack products is Late/General War.

Briefing #2 is middle era.

Early era is not yet depicted in FC, only SFB.

Got it right ?

I make some more research and using the starfleet universe timeline and some wikia I put the following border on Middle Years :

Middle Years Y120 - Y 168.

I read some comments about the Federation Commander ship being mid-wars refit of Middle Years ship.

So I guess that for playing scenario in Y168-178 I can use Middle Years ships rather than standard FC ships ?

According to Briefing #2 the middle years are Y125 to Y160, though as always, it is hard to define exact start and end years.

You are correct, that many ships were not completely refitted until later in the General War, so using some Middle Years ships with the "standard" GW-era FC ships would work. Just remember that those ships might be at a greater disadvantage than the BPV system shows.

And as always, just remember to have fun when you're playing with whatever combination of ships that you want to use.

The ship descriptions in Briefing #2 explicitly state which served on into the General War period (i.e. the main game's setting). By the letter of the rules, those are the only ships available in the main game's setting. However, as the giant robot points out, also by rule anything you and your opponent(s) agree to is fine. The main point is to have fun.
